Sold at Exalted with the Netherwing by Drake Dealer Hurlunk at Dragonmaw Base Camp on Netherwing Ledge, for 200 gold. One of the six Netherwing drakes is free instead: reaching Exalted opens the quests Bow to the Highlord and Lord Illidan Stormrage, which end in Shattrath's Lower City, where six drakes wait beside Barthamus and Jorus's quest, Jorus the Cobalt Netherwing Drake, hands over this one. Only one of the six quests can be taken, once, so every drake after the first is bought from Hurlunk.

Notes and sources
Hurlunk is the place given above, as for the other five drakes, because he serves every case. The journal and Wowhead's tooltip name only the quest in Shattrath, which gives a character one drake of the six, once (its text, in Wowhead's tooltip for quest 11109: only one may be selected, and once the selection has been made it cannot be changed). The wiki's page for these reins says they can also be bought from Hurlunk for 200 gold, Exalted being asked for both.
A character with no Netherwing drake yet can take the Cobalt for nothing: Jorus stands with the other five beside Barthamus in Shattrath's Lower City (Wowhead's tooltip 67.2-67.6, 17.2-17.8; the wiki 66.2, 17.7). The six quest givers:
- Jorus (Cobalt)
- Malfas (Purple)
- Onyxien (Onyx)
- Suraku (Azure)
- Voranaku (Violet)
- Zoya (Veridian)
The wiki says Hurlunk is friendly only to those who have done the quest Blood Oath of the Netherwing, and lists all six reins at 200 gold with Exalted required. Whether he sells before the Shattrath quest has been done was not confirmed.
Hurlunk's spot is Wowhead's tooltip (65.4-65.6, 85.8-86.0; it also maps him at 70.8, 93.8). The wiki places him at Dragonmaw Base Camp and on Netherwing Ledge, without coordinates. Netherwing Ledge is reached by air.
Reputation (wiki): the introduction ends with Ally of the Netherwing, 42,000 reputation, which covers Hated to Neutral. From there Friendly takes 3,000, Honored 6,000, Revered 12,000 and Exalted 21,000. One of the first dailies is open only to miners, herbalists or skinners; the last daily, The Deadliest Trap Ever Laid, and the quest Kill Them All! come in an Aldor and a Scryers version.
The notes for the Veridian Netherwing Drake report a known fault from Blizzard's support forum (2024): human characters got 38,182 instead of 42,000 from Ally of the Netherwing and so fell short of Neutral. Whether it has been fixed was not established.
The wiki still asks for 300 riding skill to get past Neutral, which predates the riding changes of patch 9.0; what is asked today was not established. The reins themselves ask for level 27 and Apprentice Riding since patches 9.0.1 and 9.0.2 (wiki). The item binds when picked up (Wowhead's tooltip).
Guides: the two Wowhead guides are those of the Onyx Netherwing Drake, checked for it in 2026 and not again for this one; Wowhead's pages for this mount were not read, only its tooltip. wow.gg has a guide for the Veridian drake but none for this one at the matching address (404).
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
