How to get it

Rare find in the Loot-Filled Basket, the reward of the daily quest Feathered Fiend while Noblegarden is on. Daetan Swiftplume, the holiday's boss, is called to his Large Duck Nest (south of Stonefield Farm in Elwynn Forest, or by the Southfury Watershed in Durotar) by dragging a large Golden Egg, found close by, onto the nest. He drops the Noblegarden Trinket once a day for each character; the trinket starts the quest, which is handed in to Zinnia Brooks in Goldshire or Sylnaria Fareflame in Razor Hill for the basket.

Chance 3.98% once a day, so about 25 tries on average — Wowhead: 1,850 carpets in 46,471 opened Loot-Filled Baskets (item 216874, read 2026-10-10). The count pools the account's first basket of the day, which carries a bonus, with every later one, and Blizzard never published either chance. In the holiday's first days players spoke of 1% (Wowhead comment of 1 April 2024), before a hotfix of early April 2024 raised it

Notes and sources

Next holiday: 29 March to 5 April 2027 (Wowhead's guide, updated 2026); the 2026 one ran 6 to 13 April (wiki), so at this check it is half a year away, and the wiki adds that a holiday reward's return next year is never promised.

Who gets a chance is where the sources part:

  • Blizzard's hotfix note of April 2024, as the wiki quotes it, raised the drop rate and gave "a bonus to the mount drop chance on the first defeat of Daetan Swiftplume on the account each day"
  • Wowhead's guide goes further: the mount can only drop from the account's first basket of the day, with a chance that grows each new day
  • Wowhead comments from the 2026 holiday say otherwise: carpets from the third, sixth, eighth and seventeenth character of the same day

This guide follows the hotfix note and the comments: every character's daily basket has a chance and the account's first has the better one.

The level is not settled. Wowhead's guide says the quest gives a Loot-Filled Basket or a lesser Loot-Stuffed Basket depending on level and only the first can hold the carpet. Against it:

  • the wiki's quest page has the Loot-Stuffed Basket no longer awarded since patch 11.1.0, and its holiday page gives the Loot-Filled Basket to levels 10-90
  • 2026 comments disagree: one says level 80 and up, another that a low-level character can get it
  • Blizzard Watch (2025) said level 60

The duck questline that Zinnia Brooks and Sylnaria Fareflame give (What the Duck?, A Fowl Concoction, Duck Tales, Just a Waddle Away) leads to the nest but is not needed for the boss or the basket (Blizzard Watch).

The egg: Wowhead's guide lists 17 Golden Egg spots in Elwynn Forest and 12 in Durotar, all near the nest; the wiki says it comes back every 5-10 minutes. Several players can drag it together; the rope breaks if the dragger gets too far ahead, and Blizzard Watch warns that it can be lost when pulled through water or when the dragger mounts or shapeshifts. Daetan is sometimes already waiting at the nest (Blizzard Watch).

The nest is not faction-locked (Wowhead's guide), so either one serves; the hand-in is the faction's own, Zinnia Brooks at Goldshire 42.1, 65.0 or Sylnaria Fareflame at Razor Hill 52.6, 41.2 (wiki). A 2026 comment tells of characters stuck in the wrong phase of Durotar. Nest coordinates are the guide's; the wiki has 30.3, 91.2 and 44.6, 35.2. The time on the spot is an estimate for finding and dragging the egg, the fight and the flight to hand in. The basket also holds pieces of the Spring Reveler's Turquoise outfits.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
