How to get it

Rare find in the Awakened Caches of the weekly event Awakening the Machine in Gundargaz, in The Ringing Deeps. Speaker Kuldas starts the event, a scenario each player enters on their own: 20 waves of enemies to clear while he is kept alive, with a pause after every fifth. Each five waves cleared open one Awakened Cache beside him in Gundargaz, four for all 20, once a week for each character.

Chance 5.67% once a week, so about 18 tries on average — Wowhead: 1,969 mounts in 34,703 recorded openings of the Awakened Cache (object 464938), 5.67%, read 2026-10-11. Blizzard never published a chance. The count is per cache opened by one player, and Wowhead lists a single cache object, so it does not say whether all four caches of a run are in it or only the last. Commenters who name the cache all had the mount from the biggest one, the cache for wave 20, and their own tallies run lower than 5.67% a week: one in 16 full runs, mounts at 5, 10, 20, 56 and about 80 runs, 117 and 200 runs without (Wowhead comments, 2024 to 2026). Early on Wowhead showed 20% (comments of September 2024); wow.gg's '8-20%' is its own guess

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

Speaker Kuldas stands beside the Machine in the middle of Gundargaz (Method and wow.gg both give /way 47.49, 32.01). He sends the player into the scenario, in the Ritual Hall of the Halls of Awakening (wiki), and the caches stand beside him afterwards.

Plan on clearing all 20 waves. The waves need not be cleared in one go: a character can leave at a pause and come back (Method, Warcraft Tavern). The three guides say the event can only be entered by one player at a time, not as a group. The enemies are level 80 and do not scale down (2024 comment). The time on the spot is an estimate; no source gives the length of a run.

Once a week for each character: the caches do not appear again on a second run in the same week (a 2024 Wowhead comment with 234 votes; the wiki: 'each character only has one attempt per week'), and each character of the Warband has its own week.

Which caches can hold it is not settled: the wiki, Method, Warcraft Tavern and wow.gg say each of the four has a chance, while every commenter who names the cache had it from the biggest, the one for all 20 waves.

The requirement of Renown 3 rests on the three guides. The wiki's renown table lists a quest, A Rocky Restart, at that rank, which is probably what opens the event, but the wiki has no page for it and the link was not confirmed. Renown with the Assembly of the Deeps is shared by the Warband (as for the Crimson Mudnose).

The journal files the mount under Achievement: during the beta it was the reward of It's Not Much, But It's Honest Work (wiki). In the live game that achievement, for clearing wave 20, gives only a title, and the mount is a chance in the caches (wiki, Wowhead's contained-in list, the journal's own line 'Treasure: Awakened Cache'). The weekly quest Gearing Up for Trouble (20 waves) pays an Awakened Mechanical Cache, which is a different thing and does not hold the mount (wow.gg).

A Challenge version without the pauses was added in patch 11.1 with the same rewards (wiki, wow.gg); a commenter had the mount from it in 2025. The newest comment has the mount dropping in the Midnight pre-patch (2026); nothing read says the event changed with Midnight.

The item binds when picked up. Added in patch 11.0.2.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
