Rare find in the Loot-Filled Pumpkin, the once-a-day reward for killing the Headless Horseman in the Scarlet Monastery graveyard while Hallow's End is on. He is fought through the Group Finder's holiday queue, which forms the party and sets it down at the graveyard. The item is called The Horseman's Reins. Touching the wicker men at the entrance before the fight puts up to four curses on the character, which make the fight harder and raise the chances of the pumpkin's loot.
Chance 0.76% once a day, so about 132 tries on average — Wowhead: 760 The Horseman's Reins in 100,635 opened Loot-Filled Pumpkins (item 209024, read 2026-10-11). The count pools every Hallow's End since this version of the pumpkin came in with patch 10.1.7 (2023), cursed and uncursed kills and first and later pumpkins of a day alike, and is per opening player. Blizzard has said the first drop of the day gets a bonus that grows with the number of curses applied (Kaivax, 18 October 2023, quoted on the wiki; no figures published), so a first pumpkin with all four curses should do better than this and a later one worse. The older pumpkins (items 54516 and 117392) were not read

Notes and sources
No place is given: the queue is joined from anywhere and carries the party to the graveyard, as for the Brewfest mounts. For reference, the game's table has the Scarlet Monastery entrance at Tirisfal Glades 84.8, 30.3.
Hallow's End 2026 begins on 18 October. The wiki has the queue open to levels 10 to 90 and the pumpkin given once a day per character. The pumpkin has to be opened before the holiday ends (wiki, hotfix of 2011).
Sources differ on who gets the pumpkin that can hold the mount:
- the wiki's page for the reins: characters of level 80 to 90
- the wiki's page for the pumpkin: since patch 11.2.5 (October 2025) the epic pumpkin drops for every character; before, levels 1 to 79 got a Loot-Stuffed Pumpkin
- Wowhead comments: the epic pumpkin on level 10 characters and the mount on a level 11 character (2024), and the epic pumpkin on a level 22 character in 2025
Whether the bonus for the first drop of the day is counted per character or per account was not established. Blizzard's wording is only 'the first drop of the day', and 2025 Wowhead comments treat it as one first kill a day for the account.
The four curses are those of the achievement Kickin' With the Wick ('while cursed by all four wicker men', wiki); they are optional and each player sets his own.
Players' accounts of the odds (Wowhead comments on the pumpkin): 480 tries without the reins (2024), and a whole Hallow's End 2025 on ten characters a day with brooms and little else. The same pumpkin can hold The Headless Horseman's Ghoulish Charger, a second mount added in 2025 (260 of the same 100,635).
The reins bind when picked up and ask for level 10. It is a flying mount, added in patch 2.3.0 and found in the pumpkin since patch 3.3.3 (wiki).
The time on site is an estimate for the queue and the fight, the same as for the Brewfest mounts. No guide is linked: it takes the queue and one boss. Wowhead's Hallow's End guide is listed on the pumpkin's page and was not read.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
