Rare drop from The Darkness, the fourth and last boss of the Darkflame Cleft dungeon, on Mythic difficulty. While the dungeon is in the Mythic+ rotation the reins can also come out of the Challenger's Cache at the end of a keystone run; it is not in the rotation of the current season.
Chance 2.92% once a week, so about 34 tries on average — Wowhead: 449 mounts in 15,387 recorded loots of the Challenger's Cache of Darkflame Cleft (read 2026-10-10). That is the chest at the end of a Mythic+ run, counted per looting player while the dungeon was in the rotation of The War Within Season 2. Wowhead has no count for The Darkness itself on Mythic; the figure is taken to hold for the boss as well, which is not confirmed

Notes and sources
About 34 weekly kills are expected if the cache figure holds for the boss.
A visit is the whole dungeon: the Darkness can only be reached at the end, as the mine cart ride to it starts after The Candle King, and 25 minutes is an estimate. A 2026 Wowhead comment reports an enemy on the cart ride that cannot be targeted, which holds the cart up for a while.
The weekly lockout is what players on Wowhead say (2025: Mythic is weekly again; 2026: Mythic is open on a weekly lockout since Midnight, and the mount dropped for one of them on a first run); no official statement of it was read. During The War Within Season 3 the dungeon could not be set to Mythic at all (2025 Wowhead comment), so the mount was out of reach until Midnight.
Midnight Season 2 does not have Darkflame Cleft, so the Challenger's Cache is no way to it this season. Its dungeons, by Method's list (2026):
