Slatestone Ramolith

Reward of the achievement Allied Races: Earthen, which has account-wide progress and also unlocks the earthen as a playable race. It has four criteria: The War Within campaign (the achievement The War Within: five chapters played at level 80 after the levelling story) and three side stories, Mourning Rise on the Isle of Dorn, Broken Tools in the Ringing Deeps and Merrix and Steelvein in Dornogal. The mount comes with the achievement when the last of the four is finished.

Guides Wowhead: Earthen Allied Race · Warcraft Wiki: Allied Races: Earthen (every quest of the three side stories)

• The War Within campaign: the levelling story through the Isle of Dorn, the Ringing Deeps, Hallowfall and Azj-Kahet, then the five level 80 chapters that the achievement The War Within counts (Against the Current, News from Below, A Light in the Dark, Ties That Bind, The Machines March to War) · about 12 h
• Mourning Rise: 14 steps from Before I Depart, given by Korgran on the Isle of Dorn (57.4, 43.0, just east of Dornogal), to The Weight of Duty · about 1 h
• Broken Tools: three quests from Machinist Kittrin in Gundargaz in the Ringing Deeps (about 48.2, 33.4): Discarded and Broken, The Weight of a World, Reforged Purpose · about 0.5 h
• Merrix and Steelvein: 15 steps from How Scandalous!, given by Aldra in Dornogal (62.7, 21.8), to Bad Business. It only runs to the end once the Isle of Dorn chapters Breaking Point, Earthen Fissures and The First Blow and the Ringing Deeps chapters By Candlelight, Dark Revelations and The Machines March to War are done · about 2 h

In all: about 15.5 h of play, starting from nothing.

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Wowhead's tooltip for the achievement (40307) reads 'Complete the War Within storylines listed below', gives the Reins of the Slatestone Ramolith and counts progress account-wide; its page says 72% of profiles have it. The storylines:

• The War Within campaign
• Broken Tools
• Mourning Rise
• Merrix and Steelvein

The place given is only somewhere to begin: the mount arrives with the achievement, wherever the last quest is handed in, and anyone may ride it. Which of the four parts is still open differs by account, so the place given is the start of the longest side story; the other two start at Korgran and at Machinist Kittrin (Wowhead's tooltip places Kittrin at 44.0, 33.4). The side-story quests carry a small earthen icon in the quest window (Wowhead's guide).

What changed in Midnight: Wowhead's guide (2026) says 'since The War Within expansion came to a close, the requirements have been slightly amended' and lists, beside the campaign chapters (it adds a Dalaran intro) and the three side stories, six zone chapters that Merrix and Steelvein waits on. The comment it draws on (2026, rated +7) says: A 2026 reply says the recap does give the achievement The War Within, leaving the three side stories.

• the catch-up campaign does not cover everything
• Merrix is not in his office until The Machines March to War is done
• a quest giver who is missing can be reached by party sync with someone on that quest

Older comments on the achievement: the chain pauses until level 80; after the step with Moira the next quest (Sedition) hangs on the wall by the door of the Stonelight Rest inn in Dornogal.

Not established: whether the level 80 chapters still ask for Renown 4 with the four Khaz Algar factions (the wiki's achievement page lists that as their prerequisite, written at launch), and the levels at which each part is offered today (the wiki gives 70-73 for the side stories' first quests, 73-75 for Broken Tools).

Sources disagree on the ending: the wiki says the earthen are the first allied race with no recruitment questline, while Warcraft Tavern says to visit the faction's emissary once the requirements are met. That concerns making an earthen character, not the mount.

Added in patch 11.0.2; the last campaign chapter and the race opened on 3 September 2024.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
