How to get it

Rare drop from Gallagio Garbage, a rare elite that is not there by itself: it has a chance to rise out of the trash when a S.C.R.A.P. job in Undermine is dug to 500 of 500 before its two minutes run out. A job is started by talking to Carlo Greasegrind at the S.C.R.A.P. Heap that carries the trash-can icon on Undermine's map; when it ends the next one opens at another of the seven sites. Everyone who fights the rare can loot it, and there is no lockout: the same character can try at every job.

Chance 1.59% per try, so about 63 tries on average — Wowhead's item page and tooltip (read 2026-10-11): 1,181 mounts in 74,480 recorded loots of Gallagio Garbage. That is for each kill of the rare, not for each job: the rare comes at roughly one in three jobs dug to 500 (the wiki's 'roughly 33%' since the hotfix of 4 March 2025; Wowhead comments of March 2025 count one in three and 25 in 50), so a full job is worth about 0.5% (1.59% x 1/3). The same hotfix raised the mount's drop rate, and loots from before it are in the count

Guides Wowhead: Undermine Zone Guide - Patch 11.1: Undermine(d) · Method: Salvaged Goblin Gazillionaire's Flying Machine Mount Guide

Before you go

  • Undermine unlocked: the first chapter of the Undermine(d) campaign, which follows the Khaz Algar campaign · about 1.5 h
  • Renown 2 with The Cartels of Undermine, to start a job oneself: it opens the quest Trash to Profit and its follow-up On-the-Job Training, after which Carlo Greasegrind starts S.C.R.A.P. jobs for the character. Not needed by a character that only joins a job someone else has started · about 0.5 h

In all: about 2 h of play, starting from nothing.

Getting there

S.C.R.A.P. Heap at Venturewood: one of seven job sites, go to whichever has the trash-can icon on the map
Undermine · 50.5, 63.5
/way Undermine 50.5 63.5
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 2.3 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Stormwind to Dornogal*
  2. Take the teleporter to Undermine*
  3. Ride the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 2.3 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Orgrimmar to Dornogal
  2. Take the teleporter to Undermine*
  3. Ride the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

About 63 kills are expected at that rate (1 / 0.0159). The 8 minutes are one appearance of the rare, not one job: three jobs at about 2.6 minutes each, the figure the Darkfuse Demolisher's notes have from a Wowhead comment for a two-minute job and the ride to the next. That gives about 8 hours.

What players report on Wowhead:

  • 47 kills in 4.5 hours (2025)
  • 'roughly 20+ kills in 3 hours' (2025)
  • 3 hours in all (2025)
  • the mount after 3, 5, 6, 13, 17, 25, 30, 34, 44, 47, 63, 65, 78 and 112 kills
  • one still without it at 106 (2025)

There is no lockout: the wiki says the rare 'does not have a daily lockout, so it can be repeatedly farmed on one character', and many comments since the hotfix of 4 March 2025 confirm the mount on a second or later kill of the day. After the day's first kill the rare shows as a plain elite and gives only grey coins besides (2025 comments). Before that hotfix it was rarer and commenters took it for daily or weekly. The mount still dropped in 2026 (comments).

The rare comes only when the bar reaches 500, at that moment, not when the job ends (the best-rated comment, 2025), and falls apart after five minutes out of combat (wiki). The 500 digs are counted over everyone digging in the two minutes, so more diggers fill the bar sooner. Digging stops while a hazard is up: bombs to kick away, bags to pick up, fires to stand on.

How few diggers fill the bar is told differently:

  • 'You can't get to 500 on your own. It's difficult with 3' (2025, +21)
  • 'just barely possible with 2 players' with the S.C.R.A.P. Bot hired for 100 gold (2025)
  • one player who fills it without help, 'but it's very, very tight' (2025)
  • Method suggests the Group Finder

Because the mechanics do not fix a number, no player count is set here.

Higher renown with The Cartels of Undermine speeds the digging: a faster shovel at Renown 6, and Kaja'Cola drinks from the dispenser at the heap from Renown 6 and 16 (Wowhead's guide); the blue circle's cans give a speed buff to anyone. Looting takes no renown: commenters got the mount on first walking into Undermine by hitting the rare at someone else's job.

The seven sites (wiki; Wowhead's tooltip for the rare, npc 234621, has the same seven spots):

  • Hovel Hill north: 32.0, 21.5
  • Hovel Hill south: 36.5, 45.0
  • the Vatworks: 38.5, 81.0
  • Venturewood: 50.5, 63.5
  • the Heaps: 52.5, 83.5
  • Emerald Hills Golf Course: 69.5, 76.5
  • Blackwater Marina: 67.5, 29.5

Venturewood is the place given above only because it lies in the middle. Whether more than one site is ever active at once was not established (Method: after each heap another opens 'somewhere in Undermine, almost instantly').

The mount binds when picked up but can drop again for a character that has it, and a spare can be handed to someone else who took part in the kill (2025 comments). The same jobs pay Market Research for Darkfuse Solutions and Empty Kaja'Cola Cans, so this farm runs alongside the Darkfuse Demolisher and the Personalized Goblin S.C.R.A.P.per. The first kill gives the achievement Can You Believe What People Throw Away? (41594).

Wowhead's zone guide was last edited in 2025 and Method's mount guide is of 2025; neither gives a spawn or drop figure.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
