Reward of the quest Thrayir, Eyes of the Siren. Thrayir lies dead in the south-east room of the Forgotten Vault on the Siren Isle with five runestones around him. During the island's storm phase each runestone is opened with its own runekey (Thunderous, Turbulent, Cyclonic, Torrential, Whirling); he then rises and offers the quest. The storm is entered through Suzie Boltwrench in the island's camp (69.0, 49.1) once the week's Siren Isle activity quest is done.
Time there about 5 min a visit
Before you go
- The Siren Isle's story quests (A Song of Secrets, 12 quests), which open the island's activities · about 1.5 h
- This week's Siren Isle activity quest, a bar filled by world quests, events and kills on the island; without it Suzie Boltwrench does not let the character into the storm. It is needed again in every later week · about 0.5 h
- The five runekeys, all on the same character: Whirling (drops from the rare Ksvir the Forgotten in the Forgotten Vault, in the storm), Cyclonic (drops from the rare Zek'ul the Shipbreaker at 33.2, 73.6 in the storm, or is fished from the water beside him), Turbulent (three fragments picked up in the storm at 38.2, 51.8, at 67.1, 78.4 and at 52.4, 38.6), Thunderous (five fragments from Runed Storm Caches and Seafarer's Caches) and Torrential (seven fragments from any creature killed in the storm) · about 5 h
In all: about 7 h of play, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way The Forgotten Vault 72.6 61.4 - Take the portal from Stormwind to Dornogal*
- Speak to the Captain to journey to the Siren Isle*
- Ride the rest of the way
- Take the portal from Orgrimmar to Dornogal
- Speak to the Captain to journey to the Siren Isle*
- Ride the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Still working in Midnight: Wowhead comments of 2026 report the farm. The keys cannot be pooled; progress is per character (2025 comment).
What commenters report for the pieces:
- the Whirling Runekey: usually on the first Ksvir kill (one quotes Wowhead's 63%)
- the Cyclonic Runekey: 0.9% from Zek'ul, who respawns every 6-10 minutes, but anywhere from 5 to 70 casts when fished beside him, with no fishing skill needed
- Thunderous Fragments: five in 20 storm caches for one player, none in 70 for another
- Torrential Fragments: the long part and plain luck, with reports from three in 15 minutes to none in 30
Several players in 2026 say fragments stop dropping at three held and start again once the held ones are sold to a vendor and bought back. A runestone opened early stays open, so a key can be used as soon as it is had (2025 and 2026 comments). Creatures in the storm are mostly elite (Method).
Flying on the island is locked until the sixth weekly quest of Cyrce's Circlet and is never possible in the storm, which is why the place given above is marked as ridden.
Sources name the weekly unlock differently:
- 'the weekly activity quest' (Wowhead comment)
- 'a weekly world quest' (the wiki's Siren Isle page)
- 'a Special Assignment' (the wiki's page for the mount)
- Legacy of the Vrykul, Serpent's Wrath or Storm's a Brewin, whichever the week has (Method)
Method says Seafarer's Caches need the circlet's second weekly quest, Dipping a Toe, and that Runed Storm Caches can be found from the first day; its guide to the island's other mount says only after the story's last quest.
The coordinates given above are on the Forgotten Vault's own map (wiki); where the vault is entered on the island's map was not found. The journal gives only the zone. The island is reached from Dornogal on Sky-Captain Cableclamp's airship (72.4, 4.9) or by mole machine from Ironhaul Station in the Ringing Deeps (46.1, 30.2).
Confidence in this entry: high. Looked up in 2026.
