Rare find in Alexstrasza's Gift, the chest that appears when Malygos, the only boss of the Eye of Eternity, is defeated. Both the 10-player and the 25-player raid can hold it.
Chance 2.97% once a week, so about 34 tries on average — Wowhead: 4,369 reins in 147,176 recorded openings of Alexstrasza's Gift (2.97%), added up over its two chest objects, one per raid size: 2,622 in 65,048 (4.03%) and 1,747 in 82,128 (2.13%); read 2026-10-10. Getting there
/way Borean Tundra 27.5 26.7 - Take the boat from Stormwind to Valiance Keep*
- Fly the rest of the way
- Take the zeppelin from Orgrimmar to Borean Tundra*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
The twin of the Azure Drake: the same chest holds both, and Wowhead's counts for the two come from the same 147,176 openings. About 34 chests are expected at the pooled 2.97%. The two sizes lock separately (wow.gg, as noted for the Azure Drake), which gives a character two tries a week. The time on site is one kill and is the Azure Drake's estimate.
The wiki still says the Blue Drake comes only from the 10-player raid. Wowhead records it in both chests, and commenters report it from the 25-player raid (twice in 2022, once in 2024) and from the 10-player one (2021 and 2025), so this guide follows Wowhead. Comments from July 2025 came during the Collector's Bounty event, which raised the chance while it ran.
The entrance is the portal at the top of the Nexus, from the game's own table. No guide is linked: it is a single boss.
A second source is not the route here: the Cache of the Ley-Guardian, found in the Cache of Eregos when the Oculus comes up as a random Heroic dungeon in the Dungeon Finder. It holds the reins in 600 of 10,241 recorded openings on Wowhead (5.86%; the wiki says 6%). The wiki says that queue closes once a character outlevels Wrath's Heroic dungeons; whether a level 90 character can still be given the cache was not established.
The wiki also lists the reins as a Black Market item and says the Call to Arms satchels held them from patch 4.1.0 to 6.1.0.
Confidence in this entry: high. Looked up in 2026.
