Sold by Knight Dameron, the Alliance's Wintergrasp Quartermaster, in the courtyard of Wintergrasp Fortress for 15 Marks of Honor. He stands there only while the Alliance holds Wintergrasp.
Time there about 2 min a visit
Before you go
- 15 Marks of Honor: awarded by battlegrounds, arenas and other instanced PvP, and sold 5 at a time for 2,000 Honor by Honor vendors (Orboreal Distinguishment, Algari Distinguishment) · about 3 h
- The Alliance holding Wintergrasp at the time of the visit. Control is settled by the zone's own battle, and the side that wins keeps the fortress until the next one
In all: about 3 h of play, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Wintergrasp 51.6 17.6 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Crystalsong Forest*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
The journal's cost of 15 is Marks of Honor (wiki; Wowhead's sold-by list, as read in 2026). Marks of Honor are bound to the Warband, so they can be earned on any character. Needs level 17 and Apprentice Riding (wiki).
The open question is Wintergrasp itself. The wiki's pages on the zone and its battle are flagged out of date: they give a battle every 2 hours 30 minutes in the text, a cut to 10 minutes in patch 7.0.3 and a rise to 1 hour in a hotfix of September 2016. A Cataclysm hotfix lets a battle be entered and finished with no opponents queued.
No report from 2024 to 2026 on who holds the fortress or how quickly it changes hands was found, and Wowhead's item page has no comment newer than 2019. The faction symbol on the Northrend map shows who holds the zone (wiki).
Wowhead's sold-by list also names Marshal Magruder inside the Battle for Wintergrasp epic battleground at the same price; whether he can be bought from during a match was not checked, and the wiki's page for him lists only Honor gear. Wowhead's tooltip for Knight Dameron also carries a point at 42.2, 97.0 that nothing explains.
The Horde's Black War Mammoth is a separate mount, sold by Stone Guard Mukar on the same terms while the Horde holds the zone.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
