How to get it

Rare drop from any of the 15 rare creatures of Harandar. Each rare can be looted once a day per character, so one visit is a circuit of all 15.

Chance 2.2% once a day, so about 45 tries on average — Wowhead: 122 mounts in 80,746 recorded loots over the 15 rares (5 to 15 mounts in 2,508 to 6,790 loots each), 0.15% per kill; 2.2% is that figure worked out for one daily circuit of all 15, 1 - (1 - 122/80,746)^15

Time there about 40 min a visit

Getting there

Harandar rares (15 spots; Rhazul is the one nearest the middle)
Harandar · 51.2, 45.3
/way Harandar 51.2 45.3
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 1.9 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Silvermoon*
  2. Take the portal from Silvermoon to Harandar*
  3. Fly the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 1.9 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Orgrimmar to Silvermoon*
  2. Take the portal from Silvermoon to Harandar*
  3. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

About 660 kills are expected at Wowhead's rate, around 44 daily circuits; players on Wowhead's item page report 184, 345, 757, 800, 1,207 and 2,381 kills. wow.gg gives only 'less than 1%'.

The lockout is per rare, per character and per day, so more characters mean more circuits a day; that comes from guides and comments (a 2026 Wowhead comment rated +15: daily, not weekly; wow.gg: 'once per day on each character'), not from an official statement. Characters below level 90 can loot it (2026 comments: level 80, 84 and 85). The same rares drop the Vibrant Petalwing, on the same circuit.

Rares, from Wowhead's guide (edited 2026):

  • Rhazul 51.4 44.4
  • Queen Lashtongue 59.8 47.0
  • Chlorokyll 64.6 48.0
  • Chironex 69.2 40.6
  • Stumpy 65.5 32.2 (rare elite)
  • Serrasa 57.0 33.7
  • Mindrot 45.9 31.4
  • Annulus the Worldshaker 43.5 17.5 (rare elite)
  • Dracaena 40.6 43.0
  • Ahl'ua'huhi 39.6 60.2
  • Treetop 36.6 75.0
  • Pterrock 27.4 70.4 (in a cave)
  • Oro'ohna 28.2 81.4 (rare elite)
  • Ha'kalawe 70.0 61.0 (patrols)
  • Tallcap the Truthspreader 72.6 69.2

The sources differ by a point or two on some spots (Rhazul 51.2 45.3 in a Wowhead comment and at Method, 51.6 45.2 at wow.gg; Ha'kalawe 67.5 61.9 in the comment). The place given uses the same Rhazul coordinates as the Vibrant Petalwing so the two mounts share it.

The 40 minutes for a circuit is an estimate; respawn times were not established (the comment and wow.gg both say 15-30 minutes or more). Each rare also gives 50 Hara'ti reputation on its first kill of the week (Wowhead's guide). The wiki says only that it has a chance to drop from rare mobs in Harandar; added in patch 12.0.1.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
