Reward of the achievement Glory of the Hero: 37 achievements in the twelve Wrath of the Lich King dungeons, each a special feat on a boss on Heroic difficulty. Two of them take several visits: Experienced Drake Rider (three kills of the last boss of The Oculus, on three different drakes) and Lockdown! (all six prison bosses of The Violet Hold, which brings out two at random each run). The mount goes straight into the collection when the last one is earned.

Guide Wowhead: How to: Glory of the Hero Achievement

• The 37 achievements: one Heroic run of each of the twelve dungeons doing its achievements on the way. Utgarde Keep 1, The Nexus 3, Azjol-Nerub 3, Ahn'kahet: The Old Kingdom 3, Drak'Tharon Keep 3, The Violet Hold 4, Gundrak 3, Halls of Stone 3, Halls of Lightning 3, The Culling of Stratholme 2, Utgarde Pinnacle 4, The Oculus 5 (the list is in notes). A condition missed on a boss that then dies has to wait for the next day · about 3.5 h
• The repeat visits: two more Heroic runs of The Oculus for Experienced Drake Rider (Ley-Guardian Eregos beaten once each on an amber, an emerald and a ruby drake, 'on three different visits') and further runs of The Violet Hold for Lockdown! until Xevozz, Lavanthor, Ichoron, Zuramat the Obliterator, Erekem and Moragg have all come out and died. A Heroic dungeon holds a character until the daily reset, so on one character this is three days at the least · about 1 h over 3 days

In all: about 4.5 h of play, spread over 3 days, starting from nothing.

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

The 37 criteria of the achievement are the same on Wowhead's page for it and on the wiki; Wowhead marks progress as account-wide and says 52% of profiles have it. The mount is added to the collection directly since patch 5.0.4; before that it came by mail from Alexstrasza (wiki, Wowhead comments of 2012). The item asks for level 27 (wiki).

No criterion names a number of players. Share The Love (five different party members impaled by Gal'darah), the one that did, is no longer required since patch 8.0.1 (wiki; a 2018 Wowhead comment), though the achievement still exists and Wowhead's guide still lists it. The Party's Over was taken out in patch 3.3.0 (wiki).

The place given above is one dungeon entrance of twelve, the one visited most. The time on site is left at 0 and the whole of the work is in the requirements, as for the other dungeon achievement mounts.

All on Heroic, by dungeon, with the entrance from the game's own table and each requirement as Wowhead's guide quotes it:

• Utgarde Keep (Howling Fjord 57.2, 46.1): On The Rocks (Prince Keleseth without shattering any Frost Tombs)
• The Nexus (Borean Tundra 27.5, 25.9): Split Personality (Grand Magus Telestra after killing her images within 5 seconds of each other during both splits), Chaos Theory (Anomalus without destroying any Chaotic Rifts), Intense Cold (Keristrasza without allowing Intense Cold to reach more than two stacks)
• Azjol-Nerub (Dragonblight 25.9, 51.0): Watch Him Die (Krik'thir the Gatewatcher while his three Watchers are still alive), Hadronox Denied (Hadronox before he webs the top doors), Gotta Go! (Anub'arak in 4 minutes or less)
• Ahn'kahet: The Old Kingdom (Dragonblight 28.5, 51.8): Volazj's Quick Demise (Herald Volazj in 2 minutes or less), Respect Your Elders (Elder Nadox without killing any Ahn'kahar Guardians), Volunteer Work (Jedoga Shadowseeker without killing any Twilight Volunteers)
• Drak'Tharon Keep (Zul'Drak 28.4, 86.9): Consumption Junction (Trollgore before Consume reaches ten stacks), Better Off Dred (6 Drakkari Gutrippers or Scytheclaws slain during the fight with King Dred), Oh Novos! (Novos the Summoner without any undead minion reaching the floor)
• The Violet Hold (in Dalaran; the table puts its door at Crystalsong Forest 35.4, 45.6, the forest below the city): Lockdown!, Defenseless (Cyanigosa without using the Defense Control Crystals and with Prison Seal Integrity at 100%), Dehydration (Ichoron without any Ichor Globules merging), A Void Dance (Zuramat the Obliterator without killing any void sentries)
• Gundrak (Zul'Drak 76.0, 20.8): Snakes. Why'd It Have To Be Snakes? (Slad'ran without getting snake wrapped), Less-rabi (Moorabi kept from turning into a mammoth at any point, which means interrupting him), What the Eck? (Gal'darah killed while under Eck Residue, got from the side boss Eck the Ferocious; it lasts an hour)
• Halls of Stone (The Storm Peaks 39.4, 26.9): Good Grief (the Maiden of Grief in 1 minute or less), Brann Spankin' New (the Tribunal of Ages without Brann Bronzebeard taking any damage), Abuse the Ooze (5 Iron Sludges killed in the fight with Sjonnir the Ironshaper)
• Halls of Lightning (The Storm Peaks 45.4, 21.3): Lightning Struck (General Bjarngrim while he has a Temporary Electrical Charge), Shatter Resistant (Volkhan without letting him shatter more than 4 Brittle Golems), Timely Death (Loken in 2 minutes or less)
• The Culling of Stratholme (Caverns of Time, Tanaris 61.1, 62.1): Zombiefest! (100 zombies in 1 minute), The Culling of Time (the Infinite Corruptor, who has to be reached in time: 25 minutes by wow.gg)
• Utgarde Pinnacle (Howling Fjord 57.3, 46.9): The Incredible Hulk (Svala Sorrowgrave made to kill a Scourge Hulk with her ritual), Lodi Dodi We Loves the Skadi (Skadi the Ruthless within 3 minutes of starting the gauntlet), My Girl Loves to Skadi All the Time (Grauf taken from full health to dead in a single pass), King's Bane (King Ymiron without anyone triggering Bane)
• The Oculus (Borean Tundra 27.5, 26.7): Experienced Drake Rider, Make It Count (Eregos within 20 minutes of Drakos the Interrogator's death), Ruby Void, Emerald Void and Amber Void (Eregos beaten without anyone in the party using that kind of drake; a party riding only one kind earns the other two at once)

Several ask for a boss to live until something has happened, which a strong character has to hold back for. A much-liked 2020 Wowhead comment goes through them for a high-level character:

• let five Iron Sludges form before killing Sjonnir
• take off gear so that Svala's ritual and not the player kills the hulk
• pull King Dred together with the raptors
• kill only Krik'thir
• gather every zombie of the third area before speaking to Arthas
• pick up three harpoons before firing at Grauf

Repeat visits: the wiki notes on the pages of Experienced Drake Rider and Lockdown! that both became account-wide in patch 11.0.0, so kills made by several characters on one day may add up. That was not confirmed, and a 2013 reply says the parts of one achievement had to be done by the same character.

Good Grief did not award from the War Within pre-patch (2024) until about June 2025, when a commenter got it again; nothing newer says it is broken.

A 2025 comment (rated +24) points to a video walk-through its author made for today's game (youtu.be/vXhjAwgLIc8); it was not watched.

Wowhead's guide is a player's (MasterGaming101, 2012, last updated 2018). It quotes each achievement and gives a way to do it for a party of that time, so its tactics are dated. It says of Intense Cold that it takes a second player to dispel, which the 2020 comment answers with killing her quickly. wow.gg's guide (2026) gives wrong requirements for several of the achievements and is not linked. Both Wowhead pages used are the retail ones.
