Reward of the Alliance achievement For the Alliance!: slay the leaders of the Horde in their cities. Two are left on the list: Rokhan in Grommash Hold in Orgrimmar (Opposing Orgrimmar) and Lor'themar Theron in the Sunfury Spire of Silvermoon City (Killed in Quel'Thalas). Progress is shared across the account, and the Reins of the Black War Bear come with the second kill.
Time there about 15 min a visit
Before you go
- Killed in Quel'Thalas: Lor'themar Theron killed in the Sunfury Spire of Silvermoon City as it stood before Midnight. Zidormi in the Thalassian Pass (Eastern Plaguelands 53.8, 8.8) turns the time back to the Burning Crusade's Ghostlands and Eversong Woods; from there it is a ride north to the old city · about 0.75 h
In all: about 0.8 h of play, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Orgrimmar 48.2 70.6 - Take the portal from Eastern Earthshrine to Mount Hyjal
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal.
Notes and sources
Alliance characters only; the Horde's Black War Bear is a separate mount, from For the Horde!.
Two leaders are left. Wowhead's tooltip for the achievement (as read in 2026) shows only Killed in Quel'Thalas and Opposing Orgrimmar, with 'Account-wide progress'. The wiki's patch history has the list shrinking:
- Orgrimmar Offensive removed in 8.0.1
- Downing the Dark Lady removed in 8.3.0
- Bleeding Bloodhoof removed in 9.0.1, when Opposing Orgrimmar (kill Rokhan 'inside Grommash Hold') was added
Grommash Hold is at 48.2, 70.6 in Orgrimmar's Valley of Strength (wiki); Rokhan's own spot inside was not read. A 2025 Wowhead comment, from before Midnight, reached Orgrimmar by Stormwind's portal to Mount Hyjal and flying south.
What Midnight changed for the Silvermoon half was not found written down: neither achievement's Wowhead page nor Lor'themar's has a comment from 2026, and the wiki's pages for the achievements predate the expansion. What there is:
- a 2025 reply on Killed in Quel'Thalas expected players would 'switch to the older version of Silvermoon' for it
- Wowhead's map data for Lor'themar (NPC 16802) lists only the old Silvermoon City map (around 54, 20 in the Sunfury Spire, and two other spots)
- comments of 2026 cited in the notes for Shadowblade's Murderous Omen say the rebuilt Silvermoon holds no target for a Legion-era Alliance kill quest, and that the Burning Crusade lands are reached through Zidormi or through a portal in the Eastern Plaguelands beside the way into Eversong Woods
So the old city through Zidormi is the likely place, and that the kill there still counts is an inference. Old Eversong Woods and the Ghostlands had no flying (wiki).
By the wiki, the leaders come back 5 to 10 minutes after a kill. Lor'themar uses Mana Burn and a mass charm and is flanked by Rommath and Halduron, and Horde players can arrive in the Sunfury Spire through the orb behind him. Both cities belong to the other faction, so their guards and any Horde players there fight back.
How the reins arrive is told two ways: the wiki says the mount is 'automatically added to the player's mount collection', wow.gg that a letter brings it to the mailbox a few minutes later. The 15 minutes on the spot are an estimate for getting into Grommash Hold and the fight.
No guide is linked: wow.gg's page for the mount (updated 2026) still lists the four leaders of 2008 (Thrall, Cairne, Sylvanas, Lor'themar), the wiki's achievement page is flagged as outdated, and Wowhead has none. Wowhead's page for Opposing Orgrimmar (achievement 14817) was not read.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
