How to get it

Rare drop from any of the 15 rare creatures of Eversong Woods. Each rare can be looted once a day per character, so one visit is a circuit of all 15.

Chance 2.35% once a day, so about 43 tries on average — Worked out, not read as such: Wowhead's item page (read 2026-10-11) records 210 mounts in 132,580 loots over the 15 rares, 0.158% a kill (0.09% for Terrinor to 0.21% for Coralfang and Overfester Hydra); 2.35% is that figure for one daily circuit of all 15 (1 - 0.998416^15 = 2.35%). Never published by Blizzard; the counts are pooled since launch

Time there about 40 min a visit

Getting there

Eversong Woods rares (15 spots; Overfester Hydra is a fixed one near the middle)
Eversong Woods · 54.7, 60.8
/way Eversong Woods 54.7 60.8
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 1.6 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Silvermoon*
  2. Fly the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 1.5 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Orgrimmar to Silvermoon*
  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

About 630 kills are expected at that rate, some 43 daily circuits; players on Wowhead report 69, 111, 223, 641, more than 800, 1,000 and 1,206 kills.

The lockout is per character (Method: the rares "can be defeated on different characters giving you extra chances each day"; Wowhead's guide: rares "can be killed daily for other rewards"), so more characters mean more circuits a day. The daily lockout comes from guides and comments, not from an official statement. The idea that only the first kill of a day or a week can drop it is contradicted by several comments.

Comments report drops on characters of level 80 and 84, and a 2026 one says a later character that takes the campaign skip at Liadrin can start on the rares at once. The same rares drop the Cerulean Hawkstrider. Two players who collected all eight of Midnight's zone-rare mounts (2026) got no duplicates and suspect a mount leaves the loot pool once it is owned, which is not confirmed.

Rares (Wowhead's guide, updated 2026; Eversong Woods map; Method's coordinates agree within a point):

  • Warden of Weeds 51.6 74.6 (patrols the garden of the Sanctum of the Sun)
  • Overfester Hydra 54.8 60.2 (Suncrown Village)
  • Cre'van 63.6 49.4 (patrols the middle of Tor'Watha)
  • Lady Liminus 36.6 77.2 (Windrunner Spire)
  • Bad Zed 48.8 88.0 (inside a building in Thalassian Pass)
  • Banuran 56.4 77.6 (by the lake in Zeb'Nowa)
  • Duskburn 42.6 69.2 (patrols the Sanctum of the Moon)
  • Dame Bloodshed 45.8 39.0 (patrols the river north of Fairbreeze Village)
  • Harried Hawkstrider 44.6 78.6 (patrols north of the Ruins of Deathholme)
  • Bloated Snapdragon 36.6 63.8 (the coast at Daggerspine Landing)
  • Coralfang 36.3 36.3 (the coast west of Fairbreeze Village)
  • Terrinor 40.4 85.6 (a cliff west of the Ruins of Deathholme)
  • Waverly 34.8 20.9 (south-west Sunstrider Isle; click the Lovely Sunflower to call her)
  • Lost Guardian 59.2 79.2 (north of the road to Zul'Aman)
  • Malfunctioning Construct 51.6 45.8 (patrols west of the East Sanctum)

They are the 15 of the achievement A Bloody Song and the same 15 that Wowhead records the mount from. The place given is the same point as the Cerulean Hawkstrider's (Method's coordinates for the hydra).

The 40 minutes for a circuit is an estimate, the figure used for the Cerulean Hawkstrider; respawn times were not established (Wowhead comments: 15 to 45 minutes for most early in 2026, as little as 7 minutes later). A comment of May 2026 thinks the chance was raised that month; nothing confirms it.

The item binds when picked up (tooltip); two 2026 commenters say they got theirs from someone else in the end, which was not looked into.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
