How to get it

Rare drop from any of the 15 rare creatures of Zul'Aman. Each rare can be looted once a day per character, so one visit is a circuit of all 15.

Chance 1.8% once a day, so about 56 tries on average — Worked out, not read as such: Wowhead's item page (read 2026-10-11) records 129 mounts in 106,933 loots over the 15 rares, 0.121% a kill (0.08% to 0.19% by rare, 5 to 14 mounts each); 1.8% is that figure for one daily circuit of all 15 (1 - 0.99879^15 = 1.79%). Never published; the tooltip gives no figure

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

The twin of the Witherbark Pango: the same 15 rares drop both, and this mount follows that one for the place, the rares and the lockout. About 830 kills are expected at that rate, some 55 daily circuits; players on Wowhead report 247, 1,782, 1,884, 2,352, 2,862 and about 4,800 kills, and several say it was the last of Midnight's eight zone-rare mounts they were still missing (2026 comments).

The lockout is per character (Method: the rares 'can be defeated on different characters for additional chances'; a 2026 Wowhead reply: 'it's per toon though, not once a day per account'), so more characters mean more circuits a day; one commenter runs the circuit on six. A 2026 reply reports the drop on a level 84 character. The daily lockout comes from guides and comments, not from an official statement.

Each kill is a try at both of the zone's mounts until one of them is owned (2026 reply); the best-rated comment (2026) suspects a mount leaves the loot pool once it is owned, having seen no duplicates, which is not confirmed. 2026 comments suspect the chance was higher in the early-access days of the expansion; nothing official was found.

Rares (Wowhead's guide, updated 2026; Zul'Aman map):

  • Necrohexxer Raz'ka 34.2 33.0
  • Skullcrusher Harak 51.6 72.6
  • Mrrlokk 50.8 65.8 (on an island)
  • Spinefrill 30.6 45.0
  • Tiny Vermin 47.8 34.0
  • The Devouring Invader 39.6 21.0 (in a cave on the lowest level of the Witherbark Bluffs)
  • Depthborn Eelamental 47.8 20.4
  • The Snapping Scourge 51.6 18.2 (patrols the coast)
  • Lightwood Borer 28.8 24.4 (in a cave near the mountain top)
  • Poacher Rav'ik 39.0 50.2
  • Oophaga 46.4 51.4 (in a cave in the Leech Bog)
  • Voidtouched Crustacean 21.2 70.3
  • Elder Oaktalon 33.6 88.8
  • Ash'an the Empowered 45.0 41.2 (rare elite, patrols the Maisara Deeps)
  • The Decaying Diamondback 46.7 43.8 (rare elite; kill the Worm Wrangler beside it to make it attackable)

They are the 15 of the achievement Tallest Tree in the Forest and the same 15 that Wowhead records this mount from; its total of recorded loots is the very figure the Pango's page shows. The place given is the rare nearest the middle of the 15, worked out from their coordinates.

The 40 minutes for a circuit is the estimate used for the Pango; respawn times were not established. The item is called Amani Sharptalon like the mount and binds when picked up (tooltip).

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
