How to get it

Chance item in the two caches of the Stormarion Assault, a public event at the Stormarion Citadel in south-western Voidstorm: three waves of enemies are kept from destroying the Singularity Anchor. Each character can earn two caches a week, a Victorious Stormarion Cache for finishing the event and a Victorious Stormarion Pinnacle Cache for the Stormarion Assault world quest, which takes a second event. Either can hold the Reins of the Contained Stormarion Defender.

Chance 6.1% once a week, so about 16 tries on average — Worked out for one week's two caches, not read as such. Wowhead's item page (read 2026-10-11) lists four caches: Victorious Stormarion Cache 93 mounts in 3,802 opened (2.45%), and three items all named Victorious Stormarion Pinnacle Cache, 218 in 4,220 (5.17%), 204 in 6,214 (3.28%) and 19 in 1,227 (1.55%), together 441 in 11,661 (3.78%). One of each a week is 1 - 0.9755 x 0.9622 = 6.1%. Which of the three Pinnacle items is handed out today was not established; with the 1.55% one alone the week comes to 4.0%

  • Being at the citadel when an assault begins: one starts every 30 minutes, and a character that joins part-way gets no credit towards the world quest

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

About 16 weeks are expected at 6.1% a week for one character; every character has its own two caches (Method; 2026 Wowhead comments confirm it drops on other characters after the first has done the week's quest). Players report it from the first cache, after two weeks, and after 15 to 20 caches on a level 80 character. The 45 minutes are two events with the wait between them.

Which cache comes from which completion is told differently:

  • a 2026 Wowhead comment: the first event of the week gives the event's cache and the world quest shows only after it, so the second event gives the world quest's cache
  • Method and wow.gg: the Pinnacle Cache first and the plain Cache second
  • the wiki: the Pinnacle Cache is the world quest's reward and the plain Cache the reward for characters of level 89 and below; its item pages give level 80 as the least for opening either

The same comment says the world quest's cache could at first be opened only at level 90 and was then changed so any character can open it. All agree on two caches a week and on the mount being in both, which is what the figure rests on.

wow.gg gives 4-5% for the Pinnacle Cache and about 2.5% for the plain one, close to Wowhead's counts; a 2026 comment says 5%. Wowhead's three Pinnacle items (268485, 260940 and 279526) are probably versions from different patches or seasons; the wiki's list of contents names a Season 1 and a Season 2 crest.

Defenses at the citadel (turrets, pylons and barricades by wow.gg) cost 10 Stormarion Cores each. The cores come from the caches (5 each, wiki), from weekly quests at the citadel and from treasures and rares in Voidstorm (Method), and Xy'dax at the event sells items for them (wiki). They help but are not a condition of the cache. The event fails if the Anchor's health reaches zero. Method and wow.gg both suggest the group finder for it.

The coordinates are Method's waypoint (/way #2405 26.83 67.78), which wow.gg repeats; the wiki has none. The journal files the mount under World Event and names only the plain Cache. The mount was added in patch 12.0.1 and could not be seen in the collection until a hotfix of 1 March 2026 (wiki; 2026 comments). An Icy Veins article on the event was not read. The item binds when picked up (Wowhead tooltip).

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
