How to get it

Rare drop from any of the 15 rare creatures of Zul'Aman; the item is called Escaped Witherbark Pango. Each rare can be looted once a day per character, so one visit is a circuit of all 15.

Chance 1.7% once a day, so about 59 tries on average — Worked out, not read as such: Wowhead's item page (read 2026-10-10) records 123 mounts in 106,933 loots over the 15 rares, 0.115% a kill (0.02% to 0.24% by rare); 1.7% is that figure for one daily circuit of all 15 (1 - 0.99885^15 = 1.71%). Never published; wow.gg, as quoted in a search result, guesses 0.1-0.2% a kill

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

About 870 kills are expected at that rate, some 58 daily circuits; players on Wowhead report 63, 411, about 900, 1,157, 1,170 and 1,269 kills, and three of them say it was the last of Midnight's eight zone-rare mounts they were still missing.

The lockout is per character (Method: the rares "can be defeated on different characters for additional chances at the mounts each day"; Wowhead's guide: rares "can be killed daily for other rewards"), so more characters mean more circuits a day, and comments report drops on level 80 characters. The daily lockout comes from guides and comments, not from an official statement. The same rares drop the Amani Sharptalon; one well-rated 2026 comment suspects a mount leaves the loot pool once it is owned, which is not confirmed.

They are the 15 of the achievement Tallest Tree in the Forest and the same 15 that Wowhead records the mount from; a 2026 Wowhead comment gives the same spots within a point. The place given is the rare nearest the middle of the 15, worked out from their coordinates.

The 40 minutes for a circuit is an estimate taken over from the Eversong Woods mounts; respawn times were not established.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
