Made with Tailoring. Northrend's tailoring trainers teach the recipe Magnificent Flying Carpet at Northrend Tailoring 50; it takes 12 Bolts of Imbued Frostweave, 4 Monarch Topaz, 4 Iceweb Spider Silk, 4 Red Dye and 2 Yellow Dye. The carpet binds when it is made, so the tailor who sews it is the one who learns it, and a character has to know Tailoring to ride it afterwards.

Guides Wowhead: Mounts and Companions from Professions · wow.gg: Magnificent Flying Carpet
Before you go
- Tailoring learned on this character and Northrend Tailoring raised to 50, then the recipe Magnificent Flying Carpet from a Northrend tailoring trainer (2 silver). Bolts of Frostweave stop giving skill after the first few points and Bolts of Imbued Frostweave are learned at 25, so most of the skill comes from sewing Frostwoven pieces · about 1.5 h
- The materials: 24 Bolts of Frostweave (120 Frostweave Cloth, the cloth Northrend's humanoids drop) and 24 Infinite Dust for the twelve imbued bolts, 4 Monarch Topaz (mined from Northrend's cobalt, saronite and titanium nodes or prospected from cobalt and saronite ore), 4 Iceweb Spider Silk (spiders in Northrend), 4 Red Dye and 2 Yellow Dye (tailoring supply vendors). Infinite Dust comes only from disenchanting Northrend gear and the topaz from mining or prospecting, so they take an enchanter and a miner or jewelcrafter: the character's second profession or other characters of the account · about 3 h
In all: about 4.5 h of play, starting from nothing.

/way Dalaran 36.4 33.4 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Crystalsong Forest*

- Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Crystalsong Forest*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
The place given above is the trainer: the carpet is crafted anywhere once the recipe is known. The journal says only 'Profession: Tailoring'. Trainers by Wowhead's taught-by list:
- Charles Worth in Dalaran, for both factions
- Alexandra McQueen in Howling Fjord
- Raenah in Borean Tundra
wow.gg adds Darin Goodstitch and Dustin Vale. Charles Worth's coordinates are from Wowhead's tooltip for him (36.2-37.0, 33.2-33.6), as for the Flying Carpet; wow.gg gives 36.0, 33.0 and the old Dalaran over Northrend, not the one above the Broken Isles.
Skill: the wiki, Wowhead's guide to profession mounts and wow.gg give Northrend Tailoring 50 to make it, lowered from Tailoring 425 in patch 8.0.1; Wowhead's recipe list shows it learned at 60, with skill-ups to 75. Take 50 as the least and expect 60 if the trainer does not offer it.
Unlike the plain Flying Carpet, this one binds when picked up (Wowhead's tooltip; wiki; Warcraft Mounts), so it cannot be made for somebody else: the character that wants the mount has to be the tailor.
Who can ride it:
- the wiki's tooltip asks for Northrend Tailoring (1) to learn it
- Warcraft Mounts: any character on the account with Tailoring of at least 1
- wow.gg: the carpets are for tailors only and become unavailable when Tailoring is dropped
- a 2018 Wowhead comment found any tailor, even at skill 1, could ride it
- a 2015 comment says the mount stays in the collection and counts for mount achievements after Tailoring is unlearned
A character that will not keep Tailoring therefore gets the collection entry but not a mount it can ride.
The recipe is the same in the wiki, in Wowhead's created-by list (spell 60971) and in Wowhead's guide to profession mounts (last edited 2022); wow.gg (updated 2026) has the same amounts but calls the gem Imperial Topaz, which the other three do not bear out. A bolt of imbued frostweave is 2 Bolts of Frostweave and 2 Infinite Dust, a Bolt of Frostweave 5 Frostweave Cloth (Wowhead's guide, wow.gg). Monarch Topaz has not been sold by vendors since patch 3.2 (wiki).
A flying mount. Level: the wiki says 27 with Apprentice Riding, Warcraft Mounts and wow.gg 10; flying on it takes Expert Riding.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
