How to get it

Rare drop from the Restless Heart, last boss of Windrunner Spire, on Mythic, and from the Challenger's Cache at the end of a Windrunner Spire keystone run. Both need the dungeon on Mythic difficulty. Windrunner Spire left the seasonal dungeon pool when Midnight Season 2 began and cannot be entered on Mythic or Mythic+ while that season lasts, so the mount cannot be earned until the dungeon comes back in a later season or the expansion ends.

Chance 2.15% once a day, so about 47 tries on average — Wowhead (item page read 2026-10-10): 223 mounts in 10,387 recorded loots of Challenger's Cache, the keystone end chest of Windrunner Spire (2.15%), all of it from Season 1. Wowhead has no count for the Restless Heart itself, so the chance on a plain Mythic kill is not recorded; wow.gg says about 1% without a source, and Blizzard never published a figure. Lockout as it was in Season 1: the plain Mythic kill once a day, keystone runs without limit

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

Not earnable today. Icy Veins (written before patch 12.1) says that for the whole of Season 2 Magisters' Terrace and Windrunner Spire cannot be entered on Mythic and Mythic+, that the two hawkstrider mounts cannot be farmed for the duration of the season and become farmable again at the end of the expansion, and that it is unknown whether either dungeon returns in a later season. The wiki's page for the mount and a 2026 Wowhead comment say the same.

Season 2 began on 18 August 2026, and the wiki lists no end date for it. Its dungeon pool (wiki):

  • Altar of Fangs
  • Murder Row
  • Den of Nalorakk
  • The Blinding Vale
  • Voidscar Arena
  • Kings' Rest
  • Temple of Sethraliss
  • Ruby Life Pools

About 47 end chests expected at 2.15%. Wowhead comments from Season 1 report it on a first run, after 10, after 61 and after more than 100, and several drops in a single keystone run.

The game's own data gives no entrance for it. 35.6, 78.9 is Method's waypoint on the Midnight Eversong Woods map (35.63, 78.87, 2026 guide: towards the south of the zone, just above the Ruins of Deatholme); wow.gg gives 35.5, 78.8. For Season 1 Method also gives the Timeways, the Mythic+ portal hub in Silvermoon City (42.4, 58.3); whether it still leads to Windrunner Spire was not established.

The daily Mythic lockout dates from 17 March 2026 (wow.gg). The time on the spot is wow.gg's 15-25 minutes for a Mythic run of the four bosses. Which lockout and chance apply once the dungeon is old content was not established.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
