Sold by Lillehoff at Dun Niffelem in the Storm Peaks for 10,000 gold to an Alliance character that is Exalted with the Sons of Hodir. The frost giants start out hostile: a quest chain that begins at K3 with They Took Our Men! wins them over, and their daily quests and Relics of Ulduar do the rest.
Time there about 2 min a visit
Before you go
- The Sons of Hodir quest chain: 36 steps from They Took Our Men! at K3, through Mending Fences (28,600 reputation in one go), ending well into Honored · about 2.5 h
- Exalted with the Sons of Hodir, up to about 30,000 more reputation: Dun Niffelem's daily quests (five worth 455 and one worth 650, 2,925 a day once all are open), 455 for an Everfrost Chip found nearby, and 325 for every ten Relics of Ulduar handed to Lillehoff · about 6 h over 12 days
- 10,000 gold (8,000 with the discount that Exalted brings, by wow.gg)
In all: about 8.5 h of play, spread over 12 days, 10,000 gold, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way The Storm Peaks 66 61.4 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Crystalsong Forest*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
The standing is per character: the Sons of Hodir are not among the wiki's Warband reputations, so the Alliance character that buys has to be Exalted itself.
Relics of Ulduar drop from enemies all over the Storm Peaks and in Halls of Stone and Halls of Lightning and can be handed in without limit, so farming them cuts the 12 days. Sources disagree on what they are worth:
- the wiki's quest page: 325
- the wiki's faction page: 341
- wow.gg: 500
Not every daily is open at Honored: the wiki says the later ones appear as the standing rises, without saying which at what standing. Wowhead's guide to the faction was not read.
The Horde's Grand Ice Mammoth is a separate mount from the same vendor. Three seats.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
