How to get it

Inside the Daggerspine Point Ritual Site, on any tier, find the two piles of Washed Up Kelp that lie along the shore on each visit and click them while out of combat. A pile brings out a few small enemies and, rarely, the Void-Touched Snapdragon, which always drops the mount when killed. Nothing else in the site has to be done: leave the instance and enter again for two new piles.

Chance Never published: Wowhead's tooltip has no figure and every guide says only 'a chance' or 'very rarely'. What is rare is the snapdragon appearing from a kelp pile; once it appears the mount always drops (wiki). Players' own counts in Wowhead comments (April to September 2026): the first, 9th, 9th, 11th and 30th kelp, about 70 and about 100 kelps; in runs of two kelps each, 6-7, 10, about 15, 15-25, about 25, 30 and more, 40-50; one player had none in 164 attempts

Time there about 5 min a visit

Before you go

  • Ritual Sites unlocked at level 90: Void Strike from Ranger Captain Lilatha at the Void Assaults hub in Silvermoon's Bazaar, three short follow-ups (Outfitting and Allies, Manifested Density, Ritual Interest), then Ritual Problems from Lady Darkglen · about 1 h
  • Daggerspine Point has to be the week's active site; it alternates weekly with Broken Throne in Zul'Aman · 7 days

In all: about 1 h of play, spread over 7 days, starting from nothing.

Getting there

Curious Obelisk, Daggerspine Point Ritual Site
Eversong Woods · 34.9, 65.4
/way Eversong Woods 34.9 65.4
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 1.8 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Silvermoon*
  2. Fly the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 1.7 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Orgrimmar to Silvermoon*
  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

Added in patch 12.0.5 (21 April 2026). The eight places a pile can lie, on the site's own map (2594); Wowhead's guide and comments, the wiki and Icy Veins agree, and Method lists six of them:

  • 46, 45
  • 50, 55
  • 53, 55
  • 61, 77
  • 47, 72
  • 66, 74
  • 41, 73
  • 38, 64

Two piles a visit: Icy Veins says two only from tier 3 and Method '1 to 2', but the wiki says two on any tier and most players report two on tier 1; a few found only one. A clicked pile is gone for the whole party, so a group shares the two tries (a 2026 comment).

Tier: Wowhead's guide says any difficulty, and many comments report the mount from tier 1 with no challenges; several players believe a higher tier spawns it more often, which nothing confirms.

There is no weekly limit and the usual cap on instances per hour is reported not to apply (a 2026 comment), so runs can be repeated at once; leaving through the portrait menu is quicker than walking out. The snapdragon can appear again for an account that already has the mount (a 2026 comment).

It has a shield, Voidskin, that hurts whoever hits it in melee: several rogues report dying to it and killing it only from range. Comments recommend water walking or a tall mount for the shallows, and Starry-Eyed Goggles to see the piles through the fog.

The obelisk: Wowhead's guide (updated 2026) and other guides give 34.9, 65.4 in Eversong Woods, which is used here; Method's overview gives 36.32, 56.41 'on the west coast near Goldenmist Village', nine points further north. The wiki puts it at Daggerspine Landing without figures.

The unlock chain, by the wiki: So sites may well be open before the chain ends. No guide names a Ritual Sites renown for the mount, and players had it within two days of the patch, when nobody was far along that track; two players at renown 3 to 5 report long dry runs and wonder whether renown counts, which nothing confirms.

  • Ranger Captain's Summons (an optional lead-in)
  • Void Strike
  • the three follow-ups
  • Ritual Problems, which itself asks for a Ritual Site to be completed and opens the Ritual Sites renown

The time on the spot is an estimate for one visit (both piles, then out); players speak of half an hour to several hours in all.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
