Made by leatherworkers. The Rope Lynx Harness, the item that teaches the mount, is crafted with Midnight Leatherworking from 1 Broken Lynx Leash, 40 Mote of Primal Energy, 1 Infused Scalewoven Hide and 2 Sin'dorei Armor Banding. The leash and the recipe, Pattern: Rope Lynx Harness (Midnight Leatherworking 90 to learn), are both rare finds in the Ritual Chest at the end of a Ritual Site, the instances at the Broken Throne in Zul'Aman and at Daggerspine Point in Eversong Woods: the leash on any tier, the pattern by most reports on tier 5 or 6. Harness and leash both bind when picked up, so the leash has to be found by the character the harness is made for.

Guides Wowhead: Ritual Sites in Midnight - Challenges, Locations, and Rewards · Method: Void-Corrupted Lynx
Before you go
- Ritual Sites unlocked at level 90: Void Strike from Ranger Captain Lilatha at the Void Assaults post in Silvermoon's Bazaar, the three short follow-ups (Outfitting and Allies, Manifested Density, Ritual Interest), then Ritual Problems from Lady Darkglen · about 1 h
- A week with the right Ritual Site: one of the two is open each week, the Broken Throne or Daggerspine Point in turn. By Wowhead's guide either chest can hold the leash and the pattern; every pattern Wowhead has on record, and every player's report that names the site, came from the Broken Throne's chest · 7 days
- Tier 5 open, for the pattern: tier 5 asks for four of the eight challenges switched on (tier 6 for six), and the challenges are unlocked one by one, some by clearing a lower tier and reporting to Lady Darkglen in Silvermoon City, some from finds inside the sites · about 3 h
- 1 Broken Lynx Leash from a Ritual Chest, on any tier. It is Unique and binds when picked up · about 6 h
- Pattern: Rope Lynx Harness from the Ritual Chest, by most reports on tier 5 or 6 with any number of challenges · about 8 h
- Midnight Leatherworking at 90 on the character that learns the pattern
- The other materials: 40 Mote of Primal Energy, 1 Infused Scalewoven Hide and 2 Sin'dorei Armor Banding, the hide and the banding in their top quality
In all: about 18 h of play, spread over 7 days, starting from nothing.

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
A crafted mount, hidden behind the journal's "Ritual Sites: Treasure and Rare Spoils". Wowhead's page for the item (270058, shown there under the name Rope Lynx Harness) lists it as created by the Leatherworking recipe Rope Lynx Harness (spell 1291046, learned at skill 90), which is taught by Pattern: Rope Lynx Harness (item 272391). Added in patch 12.0.5 (21 April 2026).
Confidence is low because of the figures, not the method: no chance is published for the leash, the pattern's conditions are disputed, and two requirements carry no time.
What the sources agree on: the pattern and the leash both come from the Ritual Chest at the end of a run (Wowhead's guide, updated 2026; Method; warcraftmounts.com), the chest gives them to players of any profession, and both are rare.
Where they differ is the pattern's conditions:
- Method (written on patch day): the final chest of either site, tiers 2 to 5 recommended
- warcraftmounts.com: the final chest of tier 5 and up, the leash on any tier
- a 2026 Wowhead news headline: "Complete Max Renown Ritual Sites for Leatherworking Void Lynx Mount" (the article itself was not read)
- a search excerpt of a boosting site: Renown 8 and then the first tier 5 clear give both items for certain
The comments on Wowhead's page for the pattern (2026) do not bear the last two out: So: the end chest, tier 5 or 6 to be on the safe side, renown and the number of challenges apparently not decisive.
- it dropped at Renown 5 and 6 as well as 8
- on tier 5 with four, seven and eight challenges, and on tier 6
- for characters without leatherworking
- on a run where little of the site was cleared
- one reply says tier 2 and up
- a player at Renown 8 had none in about 15 tier 5 runs with all challenges, and a pair had none in 82 chests
The site: every commenter who names it had the pattern at the Broken Throne in Zul'Aman, one of them after many tier 5 runs with all challenges at the Eversong site had brought nothing. A 2026 reply asks whether it is Zul'Aman only and has no answer. Wowhead's contained-in data lists only Faithbreaker Ger'lok's Ritual Chest, which is the Broken Throne's (Wowhead's guide: the chest is Faithbreaker Ger'lok's or Lady Selen'vjar's 'depending on the Ritual Site'; a search excerpt has Ger'lok as the villain of the Broken Throne). Hence the place given.
The leash is reported from tiers 1, 2 and 5 and from the Zul'Aman site. A 2026 comment had it on tier 2 'while hunting for the seaweed mount', which by the Void-Touched Snapdragon's notes is Daggerspine Point's; that is the only sign read that it drops there too, besides the wording of Wowhead's guide. The leash is not Warbound (a 2026 comment). Tier 6 came with patch 12.0.7 (Wowhead's guide).
The pattern binds when equipped, so it can be sold on the auction house; that is a mention, not the route. A character with the leash and no leatherworking can have the harness made through a crafting order by a leatherworker who knows the pattern, handing over the leash and the materials (2026 Wowhead comments, Method). The hours here count the leatherworker's own route; without it the pattern, the skill and tier 5 fall away. Crafters warn that the Sin'dorei Armor Banding has to be of the right quality rank, the top one, or the recipe will not take it (2026 comments).
The harness asks for Apprentice Riding (Wowhead's tooltip). The wiki has no page under the mount's name. A Ritual Site is a scenario for one to five players (Wowhead's guide). The time on the spot is one run, from a commenter's ten minutes for tier 5 with all challenges.
Obelisks (Wowhead's guide): the Broken Throne's at 29.7, 78.2 in Zul'Aman and Daggerspine Point's at 34.9, 65.4 in Eversong Woods.
Guides: Wowhead's Ritual Sites guide covers the sites, tiers, challenges and the chest, and names the leash and the pattern among the chest's finds without any conditions; Method's page for the mount is short.
Confidence in this entry: low. Looked up in 2026.
