How to get it

Sold by Doru Thunderhorn, the Thunder Bluff quartermaster in the Sunreaver Pavilion at the Argent Tournament, for 100 Champion's Seals, to characters who are Champion of Thunder Bluff.

Time there about 2 min a visit

Guide Wowhead: Championing the Argent Tournament

Before you go

  • Champion of Thunder Bluff: 3 days of Aspirant dailies (15 Aspirant's Seals at 5 a day), then 5 days of Valiant of Thunder Bluff dailies (25 Valiant's Seals at 5 a day, handed in for The Valiant's Charge) and The Valiant's Challenge. A character that is not a tauren champions its own city first and Thunder Bluff after it: 13 days · about 3 h over 8 days
  • 100 Champion's Seals: 10 from A Champion Rises, then the four Champion dailies (5 seals a day, 9 when the Champion's Purse is taken as each quest's reward) · about 4 h over 10 days

In all: about 7 h of play, spread over 10 days, starting from nothing.

From Orgrimmar about 1.7 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Crystalsong Forest*
  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

The journal's "Cost: 100" is 100 Champion's Seals (wiki; Wowhead's guide). About 18 days of dailies in all for a tauren starting from nothing, 23 for another Horde race. Not the Great Golden Kodo, which the same vendor sells for 500 gold and 5 seals.

The coordinates given above are Wowhead's tooltip position for Doru Thunderhorn (76.2, 24.4 and 76.2, 24.6); the wiki gives none.

Who he sells to: the wiki's page for the mount says Horde tauren or champions of Thunder Bluff, and his own page quotes him: 'only champions of Thunder Bluff may purchase what I have to offer'. Champion of Thunder Bluff is taken as the requirement, as for the other city mounts; it was not confirmed in the game. Whether Highmountain tauren count as tauren for the home-city rule was not established.

Wowhead's Argent Tournament guide (updated 2022) lists the Thunder Bluff Kodo at 100 seals and says the city mounts unlock on becoming an Exalted Champion of that city, which is Champion plus Exalted with Thunder Bluff. The wiki and the vendor's own words do not ask for Exalted, so this guide does not. The same guide notes that since patch 7.2.5 the tournament's mounts only have to be unlocked on one faction.

More seals a day are possible: 3 from the bosses of heroic Trial of the Champion, and further dailies open with Exalted Argent Champion and with The Sunreavers (the wiki counts up to 17 a day with everything open). Threat From Above (2 of the 5 daily seals) needs The Black Knight's Fall done first. The wiki marks the Champion's Seal as Warband Transferrable since patch 11.0.0, so seals earned by another character can be moved to the buyer; the buyer still has to be Champion of Thunder Bluff.

The item asks for level 17 and Apprentice Riding (wiki).

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
