How to get it

Rare drop from Ral'kala, Terror of the Isle, on the Coiled Isle east of Zul'Aman. With the Curse of the Isle switched on at the Image of Astalor Bloodsworn in Tokka's Landing, 100 Ossified Relics offered at one of the island's Haunted Braziers call Ral'kala out. The 100 are counted over everyone who offers, and a character that put in at least one relic and then fights Ral'kala is given the loot straight into its bags.

Chance Never published, and Wowhead has no loot count for it on 2026-10-10 (the loot goes straight into the bags, so there is no corpse to record). Players' own counts in Wowhead comments of August and September 2026 run from the first kill to more than 900, with most between 30 and 70. One guide seen only as a search excerpt estimates 1-2%

Before you go

  • Prey opened and its Nightmare difficulty unlocked: Astalor Bloodsworn's four opening quests in Silvermoon City, then rank 4 of the season's Prey journey, where he offers the quest Dark Mending; the chain ends with The Sheep or The Wolf, which opens Nightmare. The first four hunts of a week give 1,000 journey points each and later ones 50; the unlock counts for the whole account · about 5 h
  • The Curse of Ula'tek campaign through Chapter 2, which opens the Coiled Isle and puts the needed characters there. It starts with Hagar's Invitation from Orweyna in the middle of Silvermoon City · about 2 h
  • Astalor's Coiled Isle quests: Prey: A Slithering Threat, which asks for one of the island's four snake hunts on Nightmare difficulty, then Prey: Anguish Island, Prey: Something for Astalor, Prey: Out of Our Depth and Prey: A Ghostly Nightmare, in which the Curse of the Isle is first accepted and Ral'kala first called · about 2 h
  • Ossified Relics, 100 for a summoning that nobody else adds to and at least 1 for every other. The daily quest Prey: Anguish From Beyond from Sanctum Attendant Ethrandil in the north of the island (57.0, 33.3) gives 100; skull treasures, world quests and creatures on the cursed island give more · about 0.3 h

In all: about 9.3 h of play, starting from nothing.

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

Added with patch 12.1 on 11 August 2026. There is no limit on kills: Ral'kala can be called and looted again and again on one day (Wowhead comments, Icy Veins, 2026). What limits a day's tries is relics, 100 a summoning, unless others pay the rest.

In the first weeks large parties called Ral'kala back to back and each member put in a single relic: 60 to 70 kills in three and a half hours by one comment, 20 in 45 minutes by another. A 2026 comment says the island has since emptied. The same comment has the daily quest done on other characters too and their relics mailed to one; that relics can be mailed was not checked elsewhere.

A character must have offered at least one relic before the summoning to count: the buff Whispers from De Other Side shows it, and a kill without it gave one player no loot and no credit. Loot is never picked up from a corpse. A 2026 comment says the mount dropped at journey rank 1 of 10, so the Prey rank does not gate it.

Ral'kala cannot be harmed for the first 15 seconds and leaves again after a set time (wiki). Fifty kills give the achievement Nine, Ten, Never Sleep Again. The pet Pale Hexscale and the toy Preyhunter's Masquerade are in the same loot.

How the island is reached, and whether flying works there, was not found in the sources; it lies east of Zul'Aman. The Tokka's Landing coordinates are Method's. The time on the spot is an estimate for one summoning and kill with relics in hand.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
