Sold for 150 Champion's Seals by each of the ten city quartermasters at the Argent Tournament: Corporal Arthur Flew (Stormwind), Derrick Brindlebeard (Ironforge), Rook Hawkfist (Darnassus), Rillie Spindlenut (Gnomeregan) and Irisee (the Exodar) in the Silver Covenant Pavilion; Freka Bloodaxe (Orgrimmar), Samamba (Sen'jin), Eliza Killian (the Undercity), Doru Thunderhorn (Thunder Bluff) and Trellis Morningsun (Silvermoon) in the Sunreaver Pavilion. A quartermaster deals with characters who are Champion of that city, so one city championed is enough; the Crusader title is not asked for.
Time there about 2 min a visit
Before you go
- Champion of one city, the character's own first: 3 days of Aspirant dailies (15 Aspirant's Seals at 5 a day), then 5 days of Valiant dailies for that city (25 Valiant's Seals at 5 a day) and The Valiant's Challenge · about 3 h over 8 days
- 150 Champion's Seals: 10 from A Champion Rises on reaching Champion, then the four Champion dailies, 5 a day (Among the Champions, Battle Before The Citadel and Taking Battle To The Enemy 1 each, Threat From Above 2), or 9 a day when the Champion's Purse is taken as each quest's reward · about 6.5 h over 2 weeks
In all: about 9.5 h of play, spread over 2 weeks, starting from nothing.

Notes and sources
The journal's 'Vendor: Faction Quartermasters' and 'Cost: 150' are the ten city quartermasters and 150 Champion's Seals. Wowhead's sold-by list for the item (as read in 2026) has exactly those ten, each at 150 of currency 241, and not Dame Evniki Kapsalis, the Crusader's Quartermaster, who sells the Argent Warhorse. The wiki's page for the mount names the same ten, and its Champion's Seal page prices the city vendors' 'hippogryph mounts' at 150. So this mount is far nearer than the Warhorse: about 24 days of dailies from nothing against some six weeks.
The place given above is the first quartermaster of each side: Corporal Arthur Flew (76.4, 19.2) and Freka Bloodaxe (76.4, 24.2), by Wowhead's tooltips as read for the Swift Gray Steed and the Swift Burgundy Wolf. The others stand a few steps away in the same pavilion, and the buyer goes to the one whose city it championed.
Who may buy: Wowhead's tooltip for the item carries no reputation line, only Apprentice Riding. Wowhead's guide (last edited 2022) says in its walkthrough that a city's vendor unlocks on becoming Champion of that city, but in its rewards table that the hippogryph is 'purchased from any city vendor, unlocked upon becoming an Exalted Champion for that racial faction'. The guide uses 'Exalted Champion' for the rank elsewhere too, so this is read as Champion, not as Exalted with the city. The cities' own mounts (the Swift Gray Steed, the Swift Burgundy Wolf) ask a character of a different race for Exalted with the city as well, through a second item with a reputation line; the hippogryph has one item and no such line.
Whether a character can buy from its own race's quartermaster without the Champion rank was not established (the wiki quotes Corporal Arthur Flew as selling 'to humans or champions of Stormwind'). Which city a race without one of the ten starts with was not established either; the notes for the Swift Gray Steed have a 2024 comment on a dracthyr who could not begin the Valiant quests.
Faster seals:
- the wiki marks Champion's Seals as Warband Transferrable since patch 11.0.0, so seals from other characters can be sent to the buyer
- heroic Trial of the Champion gives 3 a day from its bosses (wiki)
- a 2022 Wowhead comment says the normal dungeon gives 1 seal a run and can be repeated, about five minutes each, which a 2025 reply sets against 3 a run on Heroic across several characters; that was not tried
- more dailies open with the Crusader title and with The Silver Covenant or The Sunreavers at Exalted (the wiki counts 17 seals a day with everything open)
Threat From Above, 2 of the 5 daily seals, needs The Black Knight's Fall done first (wiki).
Once learned the mount is in the collection for both factions (a 2012 Wowhead comment on the item; Wowhead's guide says the tournament's mounts need unlocking on one faction only since patch 7.2.5). The price was 250 seals until patch 3.1.2 (wiki). A flying mount; the item binds when picked up, and the wiki has it at level 27 where Wowhead's tooltip shows level 1.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
