How to get it

Reward of the achievement Glory of the Ulduar Raider: earn thirteen boss achievements in Ulduar, one on each of thirteen bosses. Since patch 7.3.5 the raid has one size and this one achievement, which gives the Ironbound Proto-Drake and the Rusted Proto-Drake together.

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

The journal's 'Glory of the Ulduar Raider' is the new achievement, which gives both drakes, this one and the Rusted Proto-Drake (wiki; Wowhead comments of 2018; Wowhead's guide), although Wowhead's tooltip for it names only the Ironbound reins. The old paired achievements Glory of the Ulduar Raider (10 player) and (25 player), the latter this drake's source until 2018, were made Legacy in patch 7.3.5, when the two raid sizes were merged (wiki). The achievement shows account-wide progress (Wowhead's tooltip).

The thirteen, by boss (Wowhead's tooltip for achievement 12401 and a comment on its page; how each is done is from Wowhead's achiever's guide, brought up to date in 2018 after the raid was reworked):

  • Orbit-uary (Flame Leviathan): speak to the Lore Keeper of Norgannon in the staging area first so that all four defence towers are active
  • Iron Dwarf, Medium Rare (Razorscale): her Flame Breath kills 25 Dark Rune Guardian dwarves
  • Stokin' the Furnace (Ignis): dead within 4 minutes
  • Heartbreaker (XT-002): destroy the heart he exposes, then kill him
  • I Choose You, Steelbreaker (Assembly of Iron): Steelbreaker dies last
  • Disarmed (Kologarn): both arms and then Kologarn within 12 seconds
  • Crazy Cat Lady (Auriaya): none of her Sanctum Sentries is killed
  • I Could Say That This Cache Was Rare (Hodir): dead about 3 minutes after his tunnel is entered; the guide calls the exact time unclear and aims for 2 minutes 45
  • Lose Your Illusion (Thorim): the tunnel is run to his platform in about 3 minutes, so that Sif is still there for the fight
  • Knock, Knock, Knock on Wood (Freya): all three Elders left alive
  • Firefighter (Mimiron): press the red button at the back of his room before the fight
  • I Love the Smell of Saronite in the Morning (General Vezax): leave the first six Saronite crystals alone until they merge into the Saronite Animus, kill it, then him
  • One Light in the Darkness (Yogg-Saron): at most one of the four keepers asked for help

A character far above the raid's level has to hold back in places, which is what most comments are about:

  • Heartbreaker fails if XT-002 dies before the heart is out (a 2019 comment: gear taken off)
  • Vezax must live until the crystals have merged
  • Razorscale must not die before she has breathed on the dwarves

For Razorscale the comments of 2025 agree:

  • let the engineers repair all four harpoons without using them
  • gather the dwarves without hurting them
  • wait until the dwarves have killed the engineers and the chat says 'Razorscale goes into a berserker rage!'
  • then fire the harpoons and stand the dwarves in front of her

Only the medium-sized dwarves count, one to each mole machine. The count is kept when the fight is reset (by jumping off the cliff behind her) and, by a 2025 comment on patch 11.2, is shared by the whole Warband. Take off items that deal damage by themselves. The older advice in the comments, to punch her under 50% health so that she stays on the ground, is no longer workable or needed, by comments of 2023 and 2025.

The guide describes Thorim with one group in the arena and one in the tunnel, and was written for raids of level 85. No player count is set: a 2021 comment tells of a max-level hunter doing the whole meta-achievement in one sitting with the gear taken off, and a 2025 one of doing Iron Dwarf, Medium Rare alone on a level 80 paladin. No comment newer than 2021 covers the whole meta-achievement, and none read is from Midnight, which is why confidence is medium.

The 120 minutes are an estimate for one clear doing all thirteen, the wait for Razorscale's rage included (about 10 minutes by a 2019 comment). A boss killed without its achievement has to wait for the raid to reset; the lockout was not looked up (the notes for Mimiron's Head have one Yogg-Saron kill a week). Whether the Timewalking version of Ulduar counts was not looked up.

The entrance is from the game's own instance-entrance table (the wiki has 41, 17).

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
