How to get it

Reward of the quest They Grow Up So Fast from Mor'vek in the Marshlands of Un'Goro Crater, by the way up to Tanaris. He first asks for Toxic Tolerance (be splashed with venomhide blood 20 times while fighting Venomhide Ravasaurs) and Venomhide Eggs (4 eggs from the ravasaur nests), then hands over a Venomhide Hatchling. The hatchling gives one daily quest a day, each paying one Venomhide Baby Tooth. Mor'vek trades 20 teeth, the hatchling, 20 Runecloth, 20 Rugged Leather and 80 gold for the mount.

Guides Wowhead: Venomhide Ravasaur Mount Guide (written for Wrath Classic) · Warcraft Wiki: Toxic Tolerance (ways through the poison step at high level)

Before you go

  • Toxic Tolerance and Venomhide Eggs, the two opening quests. The poison only lands while the character is hitting a Venomhide Ravasaur in melee and the ravasaur lives long enough to hit back, so a strong character has to hit softly (see notes) · about 1 h
  • 20 Venomhide Baby Teeth: the hatchling's daily quest done 20 times, one a day. It is summoned in Un'Goro Crater, Tanaris or Silithus and offers one of four: Gorishi Grub (10 Silithid Meat from the Slithering Scar) or Hungry, Hungry Hatchling (15 Fresh Dinosaur Meat) in Un'Goro, Poached, Scrambled, Or Raw? (12 Silithid Eggs at the Noxious Lair) or Searing Roc Feathers (5 Searing Roc Plumage, around 37, 67) in Tanaris · about 4 h over 3 weeks
  • 20 Runecloth and 20 Rugged Leather for the saddle. Runecloth drops from humanoids of the old level 51-60 zones (the wiki names the Twilight cultists of Silithus, next door); Rugged Leather is skinned from beasts of the same level range (the wiki names the boars and felhounds of the Blasted Lands) or made by a leatherworker from six Thick Leather · about 1 h
  • 80 gold, handed over with the materials

In all: about 6 h of play, spread over 3 weeks, 80 gold, starting from nothing.

  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

Horde only; the Alliance's counterpart is the Winterspring Frostsaber. Wowhead comments of 2013, 2016 and 2021 say the two are linked: an account that has earned the Winterspring Frostsaber on an Alliance character finds the Venomhide Ravasaur in its collection, and the other way round. That is not confirmed elsewhere, but worth a look in the journal before starting.

Three weeks at the least, about 20 short visits. The place given above is Mor'vek, who gives the first three quests and takes the last; the 20 dailies in between come from the hatchling itself, in Un'Goro or Tanaris.

Toxic Tolerance is the awkward part on a strong character: the blood only splashes when the ravasaur survives being hit. What players report working (wiki; Wowhead comments of 2022 to 2025):

  • taking off all gear
  • the Whole-Body Shrinka' toy (3 minutes, 30 minutes' cooldown)
  • resurrection sickness
  • the Goblin Dragon Gun, Mark II
  • a caster with nothing equipped
  • partying with a low-level character so that the levels are synced down

A 2025 commenter got nowhere in two hours until trying the last. The wiki says pulling several ravasaurs at once gives more splashes; a 2025 reply found one at a time quicker.

Wowhead's guide was written for Wrath Classic (updated 2022) and gives level 48 as the least; the retail quest shows level 15 on Wowhead and the whistle level 17 on the wiki. No retail guide of Wowhead's own was found. The guide's advice on eggs and dailies carries over:

  • the venomhide egg is the green spotted one among purple eggs in the nests of south-eastern Un'Goro
  • quest items cannot be gathered ahead
  • the Silithid Eggs only show with the hatchling out and no party

A 2017 comment says a character boost removes the quest and Mor'vek gives it again. The latest reports read are from 2024 and 2025 (The War Within); nothing dated to Midnight was found, and the wiki's page (edited 2026) lists no removal.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
