Sold by Doru Thunderhorn, the Thunder Bluff Quartermaster in the Sunreaver Pavilion at the Argent Tournament, for 500 gold plus 5 Champion's Seals, to characters who are Champion of Thunder Bluff. A character that is not a tauren also has to be Exalted with Thunder Bluff.

Guides Wowhead: Championing the Argent Tournament · wow.gg: Thunder Bluff Kodo (the same vendor and championing)
Before you go
- Champion of Thunder Bluff: 3 days of Aspirant dailies (15 Aspirant's Seals at 5 a day), then 5 days of Valiant of Thunder Bluff dailies (25 Valiant's Seals at 5 a day) and The Valiant's Challenge. A character whose first city is not Thunder Bluff champions its own city first and Thunder Bluff after it: 13 days · about 2.5 h over 8 days
- Exalted with Thunder Bluff, unless the buyer is a tauren: the Thunder Bluff Tabard (10 silver from Doru Thunderhorn) worn in dungeons turns their reputation into Thunder Bluff's, and a Champion's Writ, taken instead of a Champion's Purse from the Champion dailies, buys a Thunder Bluff Commendation Badge from him · about 3.5 h
- 5 Champion's Seals, which the journal text does not mention (covered by the 10 awarded by A Champion Rises on reaching Champion)
- 500 gold
In all: about 6 h of play, spread over 8 days, 500 gold, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Icecrown 76.2 24.4 - Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Crystalsong Forest*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Horde characters only. The journal's "Cost: 500 gold" leaves out the 5 seals. The coordinates given above are Wowhead's tooltip position for Doru Thunderhorn (76.2, 24.4 and 76.2, 24.6); the wiki gives none. The item asks for level 17 and Apprentice Riding (wiki). His other mount, the Thunder Bluff Kodo, costs 100 Champion's Seals.
Wowhead has two items that teach this mount, both sold by Doru Thunderhorn for 500 gold (as read in 2026): 46750, whose tooltip has no reputation line, and 46755, which reads "Requires Thunder Bluff - Exalted"; both list every Horde race. As for the tournament's other racial mounts, that is taken as the usual rule for racial mounts: a tauren is sold the first, any other Horde race needs Exalted for the second. Which item he shows to whom was not confirmed in the game.
The sources do not agree on who may buy:
- the wiki's page for the mount: he sells only to tauren or champions of Thunder Bluff
- wow.gg's guide for his other mount (updated 2026): a tauren or the achievement Champion of Thunder Bluff, with no word of Exalted
- the wiki quotes Doru himself: "only champions of Thunder Bluff may purchase what I have to offer"
- Wowhead's Argent Tournament guide (last edited 2022) lists the Great Golden Kodo at 500 gold and 5 Champion's Seals and says these mounts unlock on becoming an Exalted Champion of the city
Whether a tauren who is not yet Champion can buy from him was not established, so Champion is kept as a requirement for everyone; for a tauren Thunder Bluff is the first city anyway, eight days. By the wiki's Championing page a capital's tabard can be worn in dungeons of any level; it gives no amounts for a city tabard.
The wiki marks Champion's Seals as Warband Transferrable since patch 11.0.0, so seals from a different character of the Warband will do. More seals a day are possible than this mount needs; the wiki counts:
- 5 from the four Champion dailies
- 4 more when the Champion's Purse is taken from each
- 3 from heroic Trial of the Champion
Wowhead's guide notes that since patch 7.2.5 the tournament's mounts only have to be unlocked on one faction, and a 2019 Wowhead comment says learning this one on a Horde character gave the Turbostrider to the same account's Alliance characters.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
