Look it up on WowheadHow to get it
Sold by Rillie Spindlenut, the Gnomeregan Quartermaster in the Silver Covenant Pavilion at the Argent Tournament, for 500 gold plus 5 Champion's Seals, to characters who are Champion of Gnomeregan. A character that is not a gnome also has to be Exalted with Gnomeregan.
Time there about 2 min a visit
Before you go
- Champion of Gnomeregan: 3 days of Aspirant dailies (15 Aspirant's Seals at 5 a day), then 5 days of Valiant of Gnomeregan dailies (25 Valiant's Seals at 5 a day) and The Valiant's Challenge. A character that is not a gnome or a mechagnome champions its own city first and Gnomeregan after it: 13 days · about 3 h over 8 days
- Exalted with Gnomeregan, unless the buyer is a gnome: the Gnomeregan Tabard (10 silver from Rillie Spindlenut, also sold by Master Tinker Trini in Ironforge) worn in dungeons turns their reputation into Gnomeregan's, and a Champion's Writ, taken instead of a Champion's Purse from the Champion dailies, buys a Gnomeregan Commendation Badge from her · about 3.5 h
- 5 Champion's Seals, which the journal text does not mention (covered by the 10 awarded by A Champion Rises on reaching Champion)
- 500 gold
In all: about 6.5 h of play, spread over 8 days, 500 gold, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Icecrown 76.4 19.6 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Crystalsong Forest*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Alliance characters only. The journal's 'Cost: 500 gold' leaves out the 5 seals. At Exalted the gold price falls to 400 (a 2009 comment; wow.gg).
Coordinates are Wowhead's map pins for Rillie Spindlenut (76.4, 19.4 and 76.4, 19.6); the wiki's faction page has 76.4, 19.6 and wow.gg 76.2, 19.2. The item asks for level 17 by the wiki; Wowhead's tooltip shows Apprentice Riding.
Wowhead has two items that teach this mount, both sold by Rillie Spindlenut for 500 gold: 46747, whose tooltip has no reputation line, and 46763, which reads 'Requires Gnomeregan - Exalted' (both as read in 2026); both list every Alliance race. As for the tournament's other racial mounts (the Swift Gray Steed and the Great Golden Kodo among them), that is taken as the usual rule for racial mounts: a gnome is sold the first, any other Alliance race needs Exalted for the second. Which item she shows to whom was not confirmed in the game.
The sources do not quite agree on who may buy:
- the wiki's page for the mount says Rillie 'will only sell to gnomes or champions of Gnomeregan', and her own page quotes her: 'Sorry, friend, but only champions of Gnomeregan can buy what I've got'; neither mentions Exalted
- a 2009 Wowhead comment on the item says a character that is not a gnome must be Exalted with Gnomeregan
- wow.gg's guide (updated 2026) asks for a gnome or the achievement Champion of Gnomeregan, and adds Exalted for other races
- Wowhead's guide (last edited 2022) lists the Turbostrider at 5 Champion's Seals and says these mounts unlock on becoming an Exalted Champion of the city
Whether a gnome who is not yet Champion can buy from her was not established, so Champion is kept as a requirement for everyone; for a gnome Gnomeregan is the first city anyway, eight days. Whether a mechagnome counts as a gnome for the reputation is not documented either: Wowhead's guide has mechagnomes start with Gnomeregan, and a 2020 comment under it saw a mechagnome invited to be a Valiant of Gnomeregan.
The wiki marks Champion's Seals as Warband Transferrable since patch 11.0.0, so seals from a different character of the Warband will do; the Champion rank is the character's own. More seals a day are possible than this mount needs (wiki: up to 17 a day with everything open).
A 2024 comment under Wowhead's guide says a dracthyr could not begin the Valiant quests without a ticket to a game master, and a reply later that year that support no longer does it. A 2026 one walks a character new to the tournament through the start, from the portal to Dalaran (Northrend) on.
Wowhead's guide notes that since patch 7.2.5 the tournament's mounts only have to be unlocked on one faction, and a 2019 comment on the item says learning this one on an Alliance character gave the Great Golden Kodo to the same account's Horde characters.
Her other mount, the Gnomeregan Mechanostrider, costs 100 Champion's Seals. By the wiki this is the one 5-seal mount that took over the old name of the 100-seal one, which was itself called Turbostrider before patch 3.1.2. wow.gg's guide agrees on the vendor, the price and the steps but calls the seals 'marks'; it is not linked.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
