Sold by Samamba, the Sen'jin Quartermaster in the Sunreaver Pavilion at the Argent Tournament, for 500 gold plus 5 Champion's Seals, to characters who are Champion of Sen'jin. A character that is not a troll also has to be Exalted with the Darkspear Trolls.
Time there about 2 min a visit
Before you go
- Champion of Sen'jin: 3 days of Aspirant dailies (15 Aspirant's Seals at 5 a day), then 5 days of Valiant of Sen'jin dailies (25 Valiant's Seals at 5 a day) and The Valiant's Challenge. A character that is not a troll champions its own city first and Sen'jin after it: 13 days · about 3 h over 8 days
- Exalted with the Darkspear Trolls, unless the buyer is a troll: the Darkspear Tabard from Samamba worn in dungeons turns their reputation into the Darkspear Trolls', and a Champion's Writ, taken instead of a Champion's Purse from the Champion dailies, buys a Sen'jin Commendation Badge from her · about 3.5 h
- 5 Champion's Seals, which the journal text does not mention (covered by the 10 awarded by A Champion Rises on reaching Champion)
- 500 gold
In all: about 6.5 h of play, spread over 8 days, 500 gold, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Icecrown 76 24.4 - Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Crystalsong Forest*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Horde characters only. The journal's 'Cost: 500 gold' leaves out the 5 seals: the wiki's page for the mount has 500 gold and 5 Champion's Seals. Its page for Samamba, marked as a stub, lists the mount once at 400 gold, which is the price at Exalted (the Swift Gray Steed, the Stormwind twin, has the same fifth off). Wowhead's page for the item was not read for its vendor data; for the Swift Gray Steed it shows 500 gold and 5 of currency 241.
The coordinates given above are Wowhead's tooltip for Samamba (npc 33554: 76.0, 24.4 in Icecrown), a few steps from Freka Bloodaxe (76.4, 24.2) in the same pavilion; the wiki gives none. The item asks for level 17 by the wiki; Wowhead's tooltip shows Apprentice Riding.
Wowhead has two items that teach this mount, both sold by Samamba for 500 gold: 46743, whose tooltip has no reputation line, and 46760, which reads 'Requires Darkspear Trolls - Exalted'; both list every Horde race (tooltips as read in 2026). As for the tournament's other racial mounts, that is taken as the usual rule for racial mounts: a troll is sold the first, any other Horde race needs Exalted for the second. Which item she shows to whom was not confirmed in the game.
The sources do not quite agree on who may buy:
- the wiki's page for the mount (edited 2025): 'Samamba will only sell to trolls or champions of Sen'jin'
- her gossip on the wiki: 'What she got only for de Sen'jin champions...'
- Wowhead's guide (last edited 2022): these mounts unlock on becoming an Exalted Champion of the city
- Wowhead comments quoted in the notes for the Swift Gray Steed: a character of another race must be Exalted and a champion
Whether a troll who is not yet Champion can buy from her was not established, so Champion is kept as a requirement for everyone; for a troll Sen'jin is the first city anyway, eight days. Whether a Zandalari troll counts as a troll for her, and which city it starts with, was not established either (the notes for the Swift Orange Raptor found no source on the same question at Sen'jin Village).
The wiki marks Champion's Seals as Warband Transferrable since patch 11.0.0, so seals from a different character of the warband will do; the Champion rank is the character's own. Since patch 7.2.5 the tournament's mounts only have to be unlocked on one faction (Wowhead's guide), and the tooltip marks the mount account-wide.
Her other mount, the Darkspear Raptor, costs 100 Champion's Seals by the pattern of the other cities (as for the Darnassian Nightsaber); that was not read for her. Added in patch 3.1.2.
These notes follow those for the same mount of the tournament's other cities (the Swift Burgundy Wolf for Orgrimmar and the Swift Moonsaber for Darnassus), with Sen'jin in the city's place.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
