How to get it

Sold as Reins of the Striped Dawnsaber by Lelanai, the saber handler in Bel'ameth under Amirdrassil, for 1 gold. Night elves buy it outright; every other Alliance race has to be Exalted with Darnassus first.

Time there about 2 min a visit

Before you go

  • Exalted with Darnassus (night elves skip this): wear the Darnassus Tabard, sold for 10 silver by the quartermaster Moon Priestess Lasara at the Terrace of the Moon in Bel'ameth, and clear dungeons; quests in the night elf zones and the Argent Tournament also count · about 3 h
  • 1 gold

In all: about 3 h of play, 1 gold, starting from nothing.

Getting there

Lelanai, Bel'ameth (portal from the Wizard's Sanctum in Stormwind)
Amirdrassil · 51.4, 65.8
/way Amirdrassil 51.4 65.8
From Stormwind about 1 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Stormwind to Bel'ameth*
  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

Alliance characters only. Lelanai stands in two places (wiki, edited 2026). The place given above is Bel'ameth on the Amirdrassil map (creature 216677), where she moved after Amirdrassil bloomed: 51.4, 65.8 by Wowhead's tooltip, 51.4, 66.0 on the wiki. The other is the Cenarion Enclave of old Darnassus (creature 4730; 42.8, 32.3), which burned with Teldrassil and by this guide's other notes for her is reached only through Zidormi in Darkshore.

The journal and Wowhead's tooltip still give the place as Teldrassil, and the wiki's page for the item (edited 2026, and marked as possibly out of date) as Darnassus. Her stock on the wiki has the Reins of the Striped Dawnsaber at 1 gold beside the Spotted Frostsaber, Striped Frostsaber and Striped Nightsaber at 1 gold and three swift sabers at 10.

The reputation rule is the wiki's: 'Only night elves can buy from Lelanai by default; other characters must be exalted with Darnassus'. That rule, on the vendor's page, covers her whole stock and is what is recorded here. The wiki's faction page shows the words 'Exalted (for non-Night Elf members of the Alliance)' on the row of the Spotted Frostsaber and none on this mount's own row, and the page for the item names no reputation at all. Whether the game still enforces it was not tested.

The reputation takes no time on a night elf or on a character that is already Exalted. The faction page names these other sources of it:

  • quests in Teldrassil, Darkshore, Ashenvale, Stonetalon Mountains, Feralas and Thousand Needles
  • the cooking and fishing dailies of Darnassus
  • the Argent Tournament
  • the Molten Front's writs of commendation

Which dungeons count for the tabard in the current patch was not established. The faction page still puts the tabard's seller in old Darnassus; her own page (edited 2026) has her at the Terrace of the Moon as well (46.5, 70.6 on the Amirdrassil map), with the tabard at 10 silver from Neutral. The portal in Stormwind's Wizard's Sanctum comes from the notes for the Swift Stormsaber, which took it from the wiki; it was not checked again.

The mount came with patch 3.2.0, added with the Ochre Skeletal Warhorse to even out the night elves' and the undead's mounts (wiki). The item asks for level 10 and binds when picked up (wiki, Wowhead's tooltip). No guide is linked: buying it only takes turning up.

Confidence in this entry: high. Looked up in 2026.
