Look it up on WowheadHow to get it
Sold by Lelanai, the saber handler in Bel'ameth under Amirdrassil, for 1 gold. Night elves buy it outright; every other Alliance race has to be Exalted with Darnassus first.
Time there about 2 min a visit
Before you go
- Exalted with Darnassus (night elves skip this): wear the Darnassus Tabard, 10 silver from Moon Priestess Lasara at the Terrace of the Moon in Bel'ameth, and clear dungeons · about 3 h
- 1 gold
In all: about 3 h of play, 1 gold, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Amirdrassil 51.4 65.8 - Take the portal from Stormwind to Bel'ameth*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Lelanai stands in two places, and Wowhead's sold-by list for the reins (as read in 2026) has both. The place given above is the one in Bel'ameth (npc 216677, zone Amirdrassil, 51.4, 65.8 by her tooltip; the wiki has 51.4, 66.0), at 1 gold. The other is in the Cenarion Enclave of old Darnassus (npc 4730; the wiki has 42.8, 32.3), at 80 silver, which is 1 gold less the 20% Exalted discount. The journal and Wowhead's tooltip still give the zone as Darnassus.
Old Darnassus burned with Teldrassil and, by this guide's notes for the Swift Mistsaber, is only reached through Zidormi in Darkshore; Bel'ameth needs no such step. Wowhead still lists Stormwind City for the old Lelanai too, and the wiki says she stood at the Stormwind Embassy after Teldrassil burned but files her under removed Stormwind NPCs.
Bel'ameth was added in patch 10.2.5. The way there is taken from the Swift Mistsaber's notes and was not read again: the Alliance's portal in Stormwind's Wizard's Sanctum, or flying west out of the Ohn'ahran Plains.
The reins ask for level 10 since patch 9.0.1 and Apprentice Riding (wiki); Wowhead's tooltip lists the Alliance races as the ones that may use it. Wowhead's comments on the item end in 2011; one of 2007 gives the same rule, Exalted with Darnassus for anyone but a night elf. Which dungeons count for the Darnassus tabard in the current patch was not established.
Confidence in this entry: high. Looked up in 2026.
