How to get it

The tauren paladin's own second mount, the faster version of the Sunwalker Kodo. A tauren paladin is given it on reaching the right level, which the one current source puts at 17. No item, vendor or quest is involved.

Before you go

  • A tauren paladin levelled to 17, the level warcraftmounts.com gives for the second paladin mount · about 2.5 h

In all: about 2.5 h of play, starting from nothing.

Getting there

There is nowhere to travel for this one.

Notes and sources

There is nowhere to travel for this mount, so no place is given. The first kodo, the Sunwalker Kodo, comes at level 10.

The journal files it under quests and says only "Paladin"; there is no item and no quest was found. Who may have it:

  • the game's own tables give the condition "Requires Paladin, Tauren", with a race mask of Tauren alone
  • Wowhead's tooltip for the spell (69826) says Requires Paladin, Faction: Horde
  • the wiki says only tauren paladins get it
  • Wowhead's spell page lists Tauren and two internal Dracthyr visage entries under races, which the game's mask does not bear out

How it is handed over is not settled either. A 2012 Wowhead comment found that it 'learns itself': it stood in the mount list as soon as Journeyman riding was trained, with no quest or purchase; a 2010 comment still had a paladin trainer teach it. This guide's other paladin mounts (the Sunwalker Kodo, the Great Exarch's Elekk) were taken to be given automatically, and so is this one, but a visit to a paladin trainer cannot be ruled out.

Wowhead comments from 2020 to 2024 say a Class Trial tauren paladin gets both Sunwalker kodos at once; the latest, of 2024, says trials now start in Orgrimmar with both already in the mount journal. That was not tried, and whether they stay once the trial ends was not established. A 2012 comment found that a blood elf paladin of the same account did not get the mount; whether that still holds was not established.

The game's mount table has a second entry of the same name (mount 823, spell 221885) with no condition attached; the Great Sunwalker Kodo described here is spell 69826. Wowhead says 10% of profiles have it.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
