Reward of the achievement Glory of the Icecrown Raider (10 player): sixteen achievements in the Icecrown Citadel raid in 10-player mode. Four are the Heroic clears of its wings (Storming the Citadel, The Plagueworks, The Crimson Hall, The Frostwing Halls: eleven bosses, the Lich King not among them); twelve are special achievements on any 10-player difficulty, one on each of the twelve encounters. One of them, Once Bitten, Twice Shy, takes two kills of Blood-Queen Lana'thel, so two visits. The mount is in the collection the moment the last one is earned; nothing is mailed.
Inside Icecrown Citadel, a raid (10 player; Heroic for the four wings, Normal or Heroic for the rest)
Time there about 45 min a visit

Before you go
- Two kills of Blood-Queen Lana'thel in 10-player mode, in two different weeks or on two characters of the account: Once Bitten, Twice Shy asks for one kill as a vampire (wait about 15 seconds for her bite, which gives Essence of the Blood Queen, then kill her) and one without becoming one (kill her before the bite, but not with the opening blow), and a character can kill her once a week. The other fifteen achievements fit into the first visit, with the raid set to 10-player Heroic for the eleven bosses of the four wings · about 1.25 h over 7 days
In all: about 1.3 h of play, spread over 7 days, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Icecrown 53.9 87.4 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Crystalsong Forest*
- Fly the rest of the way
- Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Crystalsong Forest*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Wowhead's tooltip for the achievement (4602, as read in 2026) lists the sixteen criteria and marks progress as account-wide; the wiki has the same list. The 10-player meta has one achievement fewer than the 25-player one: Neck-Deep in Vile was taken out of it by a hotfix of 24 March 2010 (wiki).
Set the raid to Heroic and the raid size to 10 players, both from the character portrait's menu before entering (wow.gg); setting the difficulty to Mythic makes Icecrown Citadel Normal (Wowhead replies of 2021). The Lich King does not have to be killed on Heroic. A 2021 Wowhead comment got no credit for the Heroic wing clears with the raid set to Heroic 10-player and was not answered; this is not explained.
The twelve special achievements, in the wiki's wording where its 10-player page was read (I'm on a Boat, I've Gone and Made a Mess, The Orb Whisperer, Once Bitten, Portal Jockey) and otherwise as the notes for the Icebound Frostbrood Vanquisher give the 25-player versions, on the assumption that only the mode differs:
- Boned (Lord Marrowgar): no raid member stays impaled for more than 8 seconds
- Full House (Lady Deathwhisper): at least five different types of Cultists active when she dies
- I'm on a Boat (Gunship Battle): no raid member visits the enemy gunship more than once
- I've Gone and Made a Mess (Deathbringer Saurfang): dead before Mark of the Fallen Champion is cast three times; five in 25-player mode
- Dances with Oozes (Rotface): no Big Ooze casts Unstable Ooze Explosion
- Flu Shot Shortage (Festergut): nobody reaches three stacks of Inoculated
- Nausea, Heartburn, Indigestion... (Professor Putricide): without using Regurgitated Ooze on the Abomination
- The Orb Whisperer (Blood Prince Council): nobody takes more than 23,000 spell damage in one hit; 25,000 in 25-player mode
- Once Bitten, Twice Shy (Blood-Queen Lana'thel): once as a vampire and again without becoming one
- Portal Jockey (Valithria Dreamwalker): enter every portal she spawns before healing her to full health
- All You Can Eat (Sindragosa): nobody above 5 stacks of Mystic Buffet
- Been Waiting a Long Time for This (the Lich King): let Necrotic Plague stack to 30 before defeating him
Most are a matter of the boss dying quickly (a 2015 Wowhead comment says as much, one by one). The ones that are not follow, taken over from the notes for the Icebound Frostbrood Vanquisher and their Wowhead comments unless marked.
Once Bitten, Twice Shy: having Essence of the Blood Queen at her death counts as the vampire kill. For the other half she has to die before the bite, but a kill with the very first blow gives no credit, so open with a weak ability, wait a few seconds, then kill. The order of the two does not matter.
Portal Jockey: the achievement also comes when she is healed to full before she spawns any portal (the wiki's page for the 10-player achievement; a 2021 Wowhead reply). wow.gg suggests bandages for characters without healing spells; a 2015 comment from a warrior found bandages not enough at the time. Because the healing route is open to one player, no player count is given here.
Full House: do no damage to Lady Deathwhisper at the pull, so that she keeps her mana barrier and goes on calling and changing Cultists (the 2015 comment: do not kill any add, wait until all kinds are up).
Been Waiting a Long Time for This: the plague only exists in the first phase, above 70% of the Lich King's health. It jumps to a nearby target when it runs out and gains a stack when its carrier dies. wow.gg: leave the ghouls alive and let it jump between them; if nothing is left to jump to, the stacks are lost.
Mount delivery: the wiki's pages for the achievement and the reins still say they come in a letter from Highlord Darion Mograine, which is how it was from 2010 to early 2012 (comments quote the letter). Comments of 2012 and 2021 found the mount placed straight into the collection with no mail and no message, so look there.
Whether a character can run the 10-player and the 25-player raid in the same week was not looked up. The entrance coordinates are from the game's own table of instance entrances; wow.gg gives 53.6, 87.3. The time on the spot is an estimate for the first visit with its waits (the Cultists, the plague, the gunship); the second visit goes only as far as the Blood-Queen. The item asks for level 27 and Apprentice Riding and binds when picked up (wiki).
Guides: Wowhead's is a player's guide of 2012 (last modified 2022) written for a full raid of the time and listed on this achievement's page. wow.gg's page (updated 2026) is current but careless: it lists fifteen of the sixteen, leaves out Full House, names The Orb Whisperer as a second Portal Jockey and misdescribes several others.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
