How to get it

The draenei paladin's own first mount, the slower of the two Exarch's elekks. A draenei paladin learns it automatically at level 10. No item, vendor or quest is involved.

Before you go

  • A draenei paladin levelled to 10 · about 1 h

In all: about 1 h of play, starting from nothing.

Getting there

There is nowhere to travel for this one.

Notes and sources

There is nowhere to travel for this mount, so no place is given: a draenei paladin of level 10 already has it. The second elekk, the Great Exarch's Elekk, comes at level 17 by warcraftmounts.com.

The journal files it under quests and its only text is "Legacy"; there is no item and no quest was found. What Legacy is meant to say was not established, and the mount is counted as obtainable, at medium confidence:

  • no source found calls the mount retired
  • the game's own table gives it the same flags and the same condition as the Great Exarch's Elekk (Requires Paladin, Draenei)
  • the wiki's class mount page lists it among the mounts a paladin learns automatically
  • warcraftmounts.com lists it as a current level 10 mount
  • Wowhead's spell page (73629, as read in 2026) says 31% of profiles have it against 22% for the level 17 elekk, which fits a mount that still comes first

No report of a new draenei paladin getting it in 2025 or 2026 was found; the newest Wowhead comment is of 2018.

Who may have it: the condition's race mask covers Draenei and Lightforged Draenei, and Wowhead's spell page lists the same two races; its tooltip says Requires Paladin, Faction: Alliance. The wiki says it can only be learned by draenei, and warcraftmounts.com gives Lightforged draenei paladins the Lightforged Ruinstrider at level 10 instead, so whether a Lightforged draenei is in fact handed this elekk was not settled. A plain draenei is the sure way, and the shorter one, since the allied race has to be unlocked first.

How it is handed over is known only in general. The wiki's page for this spell still carries the old text, trained at a paladin trainer at level 20 for 36 silver, next to the patch 9.0.1 entry 'Now learned at level 10. No longer automatically teaches Apprentice Riding'; a visit to a paladin trainer cannot be ruled out. Whether Apprentice Riding has to be bought first was not established.

A 2018 Wowhead comment says the mount does not count towards mount achievements; whether that still holds, and whether it shows as collected on the account's other characters, was not checked.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
