Getting there
/way Tol Barad Peninsula 72.4 62.6 - Take the portal from Eastern Earthshrine to Tol Barad*

Notes and sources
This is the Alliance route; the Horde's twin is the Spectral Wolf. Comments of 2012 and 2017, read for the Wolf, say that owning either the Steed or the Wolf gives the other on the opposite faction's characters, so an account with the Wolf already has the Steed.
Quartermaster Brazie ('Baradin's Wardens Quartermaster', npc 47328) stands at 72.4-72.6, 62.4-63.0 on Tol Barad Peninsula by Wowhead's tooltip. By the wiki the portal is in Stormwind's Eastern Earthshrine at 73.2, 18.4; it lands at the faction's camp on the peninsula (as found for the Wolf).
The journal's 'Cost: 165' is Tol Barad Commendations. The wiki's table for Brazie prices everything in them and has the reins at 165 beside the Fox Kit and the Reins of the Drake of the West Wind at 200; its table for the faction puts all three in the Exalted row. On Wowhead the Horde's reins cost 165 of currency 391, and a 2014 comment warned of the journal once showing 200 gold, which was never the price. Brazie also sells a Baradin's Wardens Commendation for 10 Tol Barad Commendations at Friendly; spending commendations on anything else sets the mount back.
The camp: the wiki puts Baradin Base Camp at 72.4, 58.8 and names its four quest givers (Sergeant Gray, Camp Coordinator Brack, Commander Marcus Johnson, Lieutenant Farnsworth). On Tol Barad, Sergeant Parker is always there while the Alliance holds it, and one of Commander Stevens, Marshal Fallows and 2nd Lieutenant Wansworth appears after each battle; their quests pay 350.
The wiki says 34 daily quests exist in all and 18 can be done in a day at most, which is more than the 6 and 6 it lists by hub. A player's account of 2024, given for the Wolf, has 6 to 8 a day at the camp.
No flying on the peninsula: the wiki files the zone under no-fly zones, which was not confirmed for the current game. What changed in Midnight, if anything, was not looked for; the wiki's page for Brazie was last edited in 2026. Guide: Wowhead's Cataclysm reputations guide (last edited 2024), as for the Spectral Wolf.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
