How to get it

Made by an engineer who has taken the Goblin Engineering specialization and has Pandaria Engineering at 75. The recipe is trainer-taught for 3 silver 50 copper: by Sally Fizzlefury at Nesingwary's Safari in the Valley of the Four Winds, who also teaches Pandaria Engineering, and by the Goblin Engineering trainers. Materials: 12 Living Steel, 200 Kyparite, 3 Orbs of Mystery, 12 High-Explosive Gunpowder, 12 Spirits of Harmony and 20 Ghost Iron Bolts. The orbs are sold by Big Keech in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms for 20,000 gold each.

Before you go

  • Engineering with the Goblin Engineering specialization: at 200 in Classic Engineering an engineering trainer in a capital city (Roxxik in Orgrimmar, Engineer Palehoof in Thunder Bluff, Lilliam Sparkspindle in Stormwind, Springspindle Fizzlegear in Ironforge) offers the quest Goblin Engineering, which asks for 20 Big Iron Bombs, 20 Solid Dynamite and 5 Explosive Sheep · about 4 h
  • Pandaria Engineering at 75, its maximum, learned from Sally Fizzlefury, and the recipe trained (3 silver 50 copper) · about 1.5 h
  • 3 Orbs of Mystery, 20,000 gold each from Big Keech. He walks the dried lakebed outside Mogu'shan Palace (about 70.6, 42.0) in the old version of the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, which Zidormi at the Seat of Knowledge (81.0, 29.6) switches to · about 0.2 h
  • 12 Living Steel (an alchemist's transmute of 6 Trillium Bars with a daily cooldown, or of 3 Trillium Bars and 3 Spirits of Harmony without one), 200 Kyparite (mined in Townlong Steppes and the Dread Wastes), 12 Spirits of Harmony (ten Motes of Harmony each), and 36 Ghost Iron Bars for the 12 High-Explosive Gunpowder and the 20 Ghost Iron Bolts · about 10 h

In all: about 15.7 h of play, 60,000 gold, starting from nothing.

  2. Fly the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 2.4 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Jade Forest*
  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

Three errands: the specialization, the Pandaria skill and recipe (the place given), and the materials, of which the orbs alone are 60,000 gold. The materials can be gathered or made by other characters and handed to the engineer; the Living Steel needs an alchemist.

That the recipe needs Goblin Engineering is in the wiki, in Wowhead's professions guide (updated 2022: bought from a trainer 'so long as your engineer is trained in the Goblin specialization') and in a 2012 Wowhead comment rated +205. The Gnomish counterpart is the Geosynchronous World Spinner.

Wowhead's taught-by list for the recipe (retail data, 2026) has seven trainers:

  • Sally Fizzlefury, at the wiki's coordinates (Wowhead's tooltip: 16, 83)
  • the Goblin Engineering trainers Nixx Sprocketspring in Gadgetzan, Vazario Linkgrease in Ratchet and Didi the Wrench in both Dalarans
  • for the Horde, Han Leaprocket in Warspear and Guyo Crystalgear at the Shrine of Two Moons

The professions guide says any engineering trainer. A 2020 answer on Blizzard's forum says instead that the rocket recipe is discovered while making other Pandaria engineering items; Wowhead's recipe row gives a trainer as its source, with a training cost, and the guide follows that.

How the specialization is taken today rests on the wiki's quest page (quest added in patch 4.3.0, page last edited in 2023), Wowhead's tooltip for the quest and that forum answer. The wiki's Goblin Engineering article is flagged out of date and still describes the older chain through Gadgetzan. Not established: whether the quest is still offered in just this way in Midnight, and what the three hand-in items cost in materials.

Tools: Arclight Spanner and Gyromatic Micro-Adjustor (Wowhead's tooltip); Wowhead's page also lists an anvil. A 2012 Wowhead comment adds the raw materials up as follows, which agrees with the quantities here:

  • 200 Kyparite
  • 144 Black and 144 White Trillium Ore
  • 120 Motes of Harmony
  • 72 Ghost Iron Ore
  • the 3 orbs

Big Keech is only in the old version of the Vale (wiki). Wowhead's tooltip has him pacing between about 60.4, 43.2 and 71.6, 45.0, and Wowhead comments of 2025-2026, quoted for the Sunstone Panther, place him in front of the Siege of Orgrimmar entrance.

Wowhead's tooltip for the finished mount shows no binding line, so the item itself can be handed or sold on, and a 2014 reply says no engineering is needed to ride it; the route here is making it. The wiki adds that the mount has an extremely low chance to come out of a Blingtron gift package.

Wowhead's page for the recipe opens in a browser as its Mists of Pandaria Classic version; the figures here are from its retail data.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
