Made by an engineer who has taken the Gnomish Engineering specialization and has Pandaria Engineering at 75. The recipe is trainer-taught for 3 silver 50 copper: by Sally Fizzlefury, the engineering trainer at Nesingwary's Safari in the Valley of the Four Winds, and by the Gnomish Engineering trainers. Materials: 12 Living Steel, 12 Trillium Bars, 12 Spirits of Harmony, 20 Ghost Iron Bolts and 3 Orbs of Mystery. The orbs are sold by Big Keech in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms for 20,000 gold each.
Time there about 3 min a visit
Before you go
- Engineering with the Gnomish Engineering specialization: an engineering trainer in a capital city (Roxxik in Orgrimmar, Engineer Palehoof in Thunder Bluff, Lilliam Sparkspindle in Stormwind, Springspindle Fizzlegear in Ironforge) gives the quest Gnomish Engineering, which asks for 6 Mithril Tubes, an Accurate Scope and 2 Advanced Target Dummies, all things an engineer makes · about 4 h
- Pandaria Engineering at 75, its maximum, and the recipe trained from Sally Fizzlefury (3 silver 50 copper) · about 1.5 h
- 3 Orbs of Mystery, 20,000 gold each from Big Keech. He walks the dried lakebed outside Mogu'shan Palace (about 70, 42) in the Mists of Pandaria version of the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, which Zidormi at the Seat of Knowledge (81.0, 29.6) switches to · about 0.2 h
- 12 Living Steel (an alchemist's transmute of 6 Trillium Bars with a daily cooldown, or of 3 Trillium Bars and 3 Spirits of Harmony without one), 12 more Trillium Bars, 12 Spirits of Harmony and 30 Ghost Iron Bars for the 20 Ghost Iron Bolts · about 10 h
In all: about 15.7 h of play, 60,000 gold, starting from nothing.

- Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Jade Forest*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Three errands: the specialization, the Pandaria skill and recipe (the place given), and the materials, of which the orbs alone are 60,000 gold. This is the Gnomish counterpart of the Depleted-Kyparium Rocket, which needs Goblin Engineering.
That the recipe needs Gnomish Engineering is not in its tooltip. It is in the wiki ('while specialized in Gnomish Engineering'), in Wowhead's professions guide (last edited 2022: bought from any Engineering trainer 'so long as your engineer is trained in the Gnomish specialization') and in Wowhead comments of 2012 (rated +154), 2018 and 2025. The 2018 one adds that if the recipe is not there at Pandaria Engineering 75 as a Gnomish engineer, Sally Fizzlefury teaches it.
Wowhead's taught-by list for the recipe (retail data, 2026) has six trainers:
- Sally Fizzlefury, at the wiki's coordinates
- the Gnomish Engineering trainers Oglethorpe Obnoticus (Booty Bay by Wowhead's zone) and Findle Whistlesteam (Dalaran in Northrend)
- the engineering trainers Timofey Oshenko (Dalaran on the Broken Isles) and, for the Alliance, Hilda Copperfuze (Stormshield)
- for the Horde, Guyo Crystalgear (Shrine of Two Moons)
A player's answer on Blizzard's forum of 2020 says instead that each specialization discovers its rocket recipe while making other Pandaria engineering items; Wowhead's recipe row gives a trainer as its source, with a training cost, and the guide follows that. Not established: whether the specialization quest is still offered in just this way in Midnight (the wiki's quest page dates from patch 4.3.0 and was last edited in 2023), and what its three hand-in items cost in materials.
Tools: Arclight Spanner and Gyromatic Micro-Adjustor (Wowhead's tooltip); Wowhead's page also lists an anvil. The Living Steel needs an alchemist; the materials can be gathered or made by other characters and handed to the engineer.
Making it all from scratch: Wowhead's guide gives each Trillium Bar as 10 Ghost Iron Bars (a transmute) or as trillium ore, where its line names 2 Ghost Iron Bars and 2 White Trillium Ore, which looks like a slip for 2 Black and 2 White Trillium Ore. With the daily transmute the 12 Living Steel take 72 Trillium Bars on top of the 12 the mount asks for.
A 2013 Wowhead comment adds it up for an alchemist working from Ghost Iron alone, beside the Spirits of Harmony and the orbs:
- 1,440 ore for the Living Steel
- 240 for the Trillium Bars
- 60 for the bolts
- 1,740 Ghost Iron Ore in all
Big Keech is only in the Mists of Pandaria phase of the Vale (wiki; Zidormi 'phases players to before N'Zoth's Assaults'). Wowhead's tooltip places him between about 60.4, 43.2 and 71.6, 45.0, as read for the Depleted-Kyparium Rocket.
Wowhead's tooltip for the finished mount shows no binding line, so the item itself can be handed or sold on; the route here is making it. The wiki adds that the mount has an extremely low chance to come out of a Blingtron gift package.
Wowhead's page for the recipe is a Mists of Pandaria-era page that jumps to the Classic database in a browser; its retail page was used, and the guide was read the same way.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
