Rare drop from the Cache of Pure Energy that appears when Elegon, the fifth boss of Mogu'shan Vaults, is defeated on Normal or Heroic. Raid Finder does not drop it. The Stone Guard, Feng the Accursed, Gara'jal the Spiritbinder and the Spirit Kings come before him.
Chance 2.15% once a week, so about 47 tries on average — Wowhead: 2,971 mounts in 138,019 recorded openings of the Cache of Pure Energy (2.15%), added up over its four cache objects, one per raid size and difficulty: 2,178 in 54,812 (3.97%), 527 in 18,227 (2.89%), 170 in 40,966 (0.41%) and 96 in 24,014 (0.40%). Wowhead does not say which cache belongs to which difficulty, and Elegon himself carries no count. Others cite about 1%: the Rarity addon's built-in figure (1 in 100), repeated by guides

Getting there
/way Kun-Lai Summit 59.6 39.2 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Jade Forest*
- Fly the rest of the way
- Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Jade Forest*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
One chance per character each week; the cache is a chest to open after the kill. About 46 kills are expected at the pooled 2.15%, but the four caches differ about tenfold: about 25 kills at 3.97%, about 250 at 0.40%.
The two high counts are probably the Heroic caches, because Wowhead's Mists of Pandaria Classic page for the same item gives Elegon the same pattern:
- 1% on 10-player Normal
- 0.7% on 25-player Normal
- 2.6% on 10-player Heroic
- 4.2% on 25-player Heroic
That is an inference, not something Wowhead states for the live game, and the four cache objects (214383 to 214386) were not opened one by one.
The 15 minutes for the five bosses is an estimate (one guide says 5 to 10). The entrance coordinates are from a guide; the wiki only places it in north-east Kun-Lai Summit.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
