How to get it

Sold as Reins of the Great Green Dragon Turtle for 10 gold by the dragon turtle breeder at the pandaren camp in each capital: Old Whitenose in Stormwind, Turtlemaster Odai in Orgrimmar. A pandaren buys it outright; a character of any other race has to be Exalted with the Tushui Pandaren (Alliance) or the Huojin Pandaren (Horde) first.

Time there about 1 min a visit

Before you go

  • Exalted with the Tushui Pandaren (Alliance) or Huojin Pandaren (Horde), unless the buyer is a pandaren: the faction's tabard, sold at the same camp, turns dungeon reputation into theirs · about 3.5 h
  • 10 gold

In all: about 3.5 h of play, 10 gold, starting from nothing.

Notes and sources

The journal, Wowhead's tooltip and the mount's own wiki page leave out the reputation. The wiki's page for Old Whitenose states it: by default only pandaren can buy from him, and other characters must be Exalted with the Tushui Pandaren; his own line is 'If you are interested in purchasing one, you must prove your trust to the Tushui'. The page for Turtlemaster Odai gives her words to a 'pre-exalted non-pandaren': the turtles 'are reserved only for our most trusted allies'.

It was not confirmed in the game, and none of the six Wowhead comments on the reins is about buying it today; the newest one about buying, of 2012, only guessed that other races would get them at Exalted.

The one reputation opens all twelve dragon turtles the two breeders sell (six at 1 gold, six Great ones at 10; wiki). Wowhead's sold-by list for the reins has exactly these two sellers, Old Whitenose friendly to the Alliance only and Odai to the Horde only, at 67.4-67.8, 18.4-18.6 in Stormwind City and 69.4-69.8, 40.4-41.6 in Orgrimmar. The coordinates given are those of the other dragon turtles, inside both ranges, so that the turtles count as one stop.

The tabard: the wiki says the Tushui Tabard moved from Old Whitenose to Adherent Hanjun in patch 5.2 and Odai's quartermaster duties to Disciple Jusi; the other dragon turtles' notes have both at the same camps, which was not read again. The time to Exalted is the soft part, as for the other dragon turtles: how city tabards count for a level 90 character was not established.

Two item ids are tied to the mount, 87801 and 91012; both are called Reins of the Great Green Dragon Turtle, and Wowhead's tooltips give both the same two vendors at 10 gold. The reins bind when picked up and have asked for level 17 and Apprentice Riding since patch 9.0.1 (wiki).

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
