Great Purple Dragon Turtle

Sold for 10 gold by the dragon turtle breeder at the pandaren camp in each capital: Old Whitenose in Stormwind, Turtlemaster Odai in Orgrimmar. A pandaren buys it outright; a character of any other race has to be Exalted with the Tushui Pandaren (Alliance) or the Huojin Pandaren (Horde) first.

Time there about 1 min a visit

• Exalted with the Tushui Pandaren (Alliance) or Huojin Pandaren (Horde), unless the buyer is a pandaren: the faction's tabard, 10 silver at the same camp, turns dungeon reputation into theirs · about 3.5 h
• 10 gold

In all: about 3.5 h of play, 10 gold, starting from nothing.

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal.

The reputation takes no time on a pandaren or on a character that is already Exalted, and the one reputation opens all twelve dragon turtles these two sell.

The journal leaves out the reputation, and so does the mount's own wiki page (edited 2025), which gives only the two vendors and the 10 gold. The rule is taken from the notes for the Great Brown Dragon Turtle and the Purple Dragon Turtle, which read it on the wiki's page for Old Whitenose: only pandaren can buy from him by default, and other characters must be Exalted with the Tushui Pandaren. Turtlemaster Odai's page only quotes what he says to a non-pandaren who is not yet Exalted. The rule was not read again for this mount and not confirmed in the game.

The places and coordinates are those of the other dragon turtles, so that the turtles count as one stop; neither vendor's position was asked of Wowhead again, and Wowhead was asked nothing for this mount beyond the item's tooltip.

The wiki has the item at level 17 with Apprentice Riding since patch 9.0.1, bound when picked up, added in patch 5.0.4.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
