Reward of the quest The Silence, the end of the Operation: Shieldwall campaign: an Alliance story in twelve parts that open one after another as the reputation with Operation: Shieldwall rises, the last of them at Exalted. The campaign is run from Lion's Landing in Krasarang Wilds. Its last part plays in Kun-Lai Summit, where Anduin Wrynn gives The Silence; the quest is handed in to Admiral Taylor in the keep at Lion's Landing, and that is where the mount is given.

Notes and sources
The quest is given in Kun-Lai Summit, the journal's zone: Anduin Wrynn at 56.0, 31.9 (wiki). It is handed in to Admiral Taylor at Lion's Landing, which is why the place given above is there. His point is Wowhead's tooltip for the Admiral Taylor that ends the quest (NPC 69090: 87.6, 33.0); the wiki has 87.7, 33.1 and says he and Anduin are inside the keep, not out in the field.
The wiki also says the Alliance Flare Gun that is provided has to be used to start The Silence, and that Fennie Hornswaggle gives no ride back, so the way to Lion's Landing is the character's own. The first quest, Meet the Scout, is picked up at the Shrine of Seven Stars in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms (wow.gg; the notes for the Grand Armored Gryphon name Lyalia outside the shrine). The quest asks for level 15, the mount for level 30 to learn (wiki; a 2024 comment).
Learning the Grand Gryphon also teaches the Horde's Grand Wyvern (wiki; a 2012 Wowhead comment says the account's Horde characters get it), and the notes for the Grand Wyvern found the reverse on the wiki, so an account that has finished either campaign should have both.
The time to Exalted is the weak figure. Against the three weeks, a 2024 comment on Wowhead's page for The Silence says the campaign 'is no longer locked behind reputation' and was done in a few hours, with Exalted reached well before the last quest. It was written while Remix: Mists of Pandaria was running and may describe a Remix character; an earlier 2024 comment on the same page still says to farm reputation when no quest is on offer, and another 2024 one on the item says the mount could be had in Remix. The notes for the Grand Wyvern cite a comment from the end of 2024, after Remix, that Exalted comes in a day from the story quests alone.
wow.gg's guide (updated 2026) describes the old gated pace of 3 to 4 weeks. The old pace is recorded; if the reports hold, the whole campaign is an evening. The reputation figures and Wowhead's guide are those given for the Grand Armored Gryphon and the Grand Wyvern; the guide was not read again for this mount.
Blizzard Watch's list of the reputations that become Warband-wide in patch 12.1.5 names Legion and Battle for Azeroth factions only, so this one stays per character as far as was found.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
