How to get it

Rare drop from Horridon, the second boss of the Throne of Thunder, on Normal or Heroic in either raid size. Raid Finder does not drop it. Only Jin'rokh the Breaker comes before him. The raid is on the Isle of Thunder, reached through the portal at the faction's camp beside the Shado-Pan Garrison in Townlong Steppes (Alliance 49.7, 68.7; Horde 50.6, 73.4).

Chance 2.4% once a week, so about 42 tries on average — Wowhead: 716 mounts in 29,834 recorded loots of Horridon (2.40%, also the tooltip's figure), pooled over four modes: 10-player Normal 197 in 6,605 (2.98%), 25-player Normal 32 in 5,009 (0.64%), 10-player Heroic 40 in 5,093 (0.79%) and 25-player Heroic 439 in 11,100 (3.95%), taking Wowhead's mode numbers 3 to 6 as the game's difficulty ids. No Raid Finder loots are listed

Time there about 10 min a visit

Before you go

  • Isle of Thunder opened, which makes the portal appear: Thunder Calls and The Storm Gathers, from Vereesa Windrunner at the Alliance camp (49.9, 69.0) or from Scout Captain Elsia at the Horde camp · about 0.5 h

In all: about 0.5 h of play, starting from nothing.

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

There is one chance per character each week. About 42 kills are expected at the pooled 2.40%.

The spread between the modes is Wowhead's recorded data, not a published rate: the counts are per looting player and many date from when the raid was current. They do not even agree with those for the Clutch of Ji-Kun, where both 25-player modes ran high; here 10-player Normal and 25-player Heroic do. Nothing confirms that any mode is better. The figures are from Wowhead's page for the live game, not its Mists of Pandaria Classic one.

It does not drop in Raid Finder: replies of 2013 ('only drops from normal and heroic') and 2018 ('all modes except LFR') say so, and Wowhead's counts have no Raid Finder mode; one 2013 comment, voted down, claims a Raid Finder drop. Whether the two sizes and the two difficulties share one weekly lockout was not established (nor for the Clutch of Ji-Kun). A bonus roll cannot give it (wiki; a 2015 comment quoting a developer).

The entrance is from the game's own table (the wiki has 63.7, 32.2). By the wiki the way to it runs from Diremoor north-east to the Emperor's Gate and then north to the sewer grate at Bleak Hollow (51, 47), which teleports into the inner courtyard; that the isle allows ground mounts only is the reading given for the Clutch of Ji-Kun. The 10 minutes for two bosses is an estimate.

Other ways the item has turned up, none of them a way to earn it now:

  • Hemet Nesingwary XVII sold it for 38,500 Bronze in the Pandaria Remix event, which is over though Wowhead still lists him
  • the wiki says it can appear on the Black Market
  • a 2025 comment got it during the Collector's Bounty event, a limited-time boost to old drops

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
