How to get it

Rare drop from the Zandalari Warbringer that rides a jade direhorn. Warbringers are rare elites that appear at five fixed points in Pandaria, one each in Dread Wastes, Townlong Steppes, Kun-Lai Summit, The Jade Forest and Krasarang Wilds. Each rides a slate, amber or jade direhorn and can only drop the mount of its own colour. The jade one never appears at the Krasarang Wilds point, so the other four are the ones to check; which colour turns up at them is not fixed.

Chance 3.94% per try, so about 25 tries on average — Wowhead: 2,073 mounts in 52,627 recorded loots of the jade-riding Warbringer (NPC 69842), read 2026-10-11 from the retail item page; the count is pooled over all years and all spawn points. It is the chance for a kill of the jade one: at every point the Warbringer may ride a slate or amber direhorn instead, which cannot drop this mount. Wowhead's guide and the wiki say about 5%

Getting there

Zandalari Warbringer spawn point, Briny Muck, Dread Wastes (one of four where the jade one can appear)
Dread Wastes · 47.4, 61.5
/way Dread Wastes 47.4 61.5
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 2.6 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Jade Forest*
  2. Fly the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 2.6 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Jade Forest*
  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

The three Warbringers share a name; Wowhead keeps them apart as NPC 69769 (slate), 69841 (amber) and 69842 (jade). The place given above is the point Wowhead's tooltip shows for the jade one: Dread Wastes 47.2-47.6, 61.4-61.6 (the wiki has 47.3, 62.1 in Briny Muck, the guide 47.47, 61.53). The other three where it can appear, from Wowhead's guide:

  • Townlong Steppes 36.58, 85.66
  • Kun-Lai Summit 75.11, 67.50
  • The Jade Forest 52.55, 18.85

The Krasarang Wilds point (38.78, 67.37) only ever has the slate one (wiki: the amber and jade Warbringers never spawn there; the guide; comments of 2015 and 2021). The journal lists Valley of the Four Winds and not The Jade Forest or Krasarang Wilds; nothing read gives a point in Valley of the Four Winds, while the wiki, Wowhead's guide and the commenters give the five above.

About 25 kills of the jade Warbringer are expected at 3.94%; players' own counts on Wowhead run from 2 to 116 (2021 to 2024: 62, 70, 100, 111, 116).

How often the jade one is the colour that appears: a 2015 commenter who camped all five points for a month counted 64 jade among 180 Warbringers at the four points outside Krasarang Wilds and none among 25 in Krasarang Wilds, so about one in three; no newer count was found. The count by point:

  • The Jade Forest 13 of 47
  • Dread Wastes 15 of 40
  • Townlong Steppes 16 of 43
  • Kun-Lai Summit 20 of 50

No lockout: Wowhead's guide (last changed 2025) says 'There is no lockout for these rares, and they can be looted continuously', and a 2024 comment describes circling the points for eight hours and getting all three mounts in a day.

The respawn time is not settled:

  • the guide: 30 to 60 minutes, with several Warbringers up at once
  • the 2015 commenter: the same for each point on its own
  • the 2024 commenter: a steady 20 minutes

The time on the spot is an estimate of the average wait at one point plus the kill, the same figure as for the Slate and the Amber Primordial Direhorn. Zandalari Warscouts appear around the same points before a Warbringer and help to time it (a 2023 comment).

Loot is personal since the Legion pre-patch (a 2016 comment: everyone of the same faction who tags the Warbringer has a chance of their own). Class trial characters cannot loot Warbringers (a 2020 comment).

Wowhead's guide adds that the mount also turns up on the Black Market and in its Unclaimed Black Market Container (1 in 405 recorded), neither of which is a way of earning it. Wowhead still lists the Remix: Mists of Pandaria vendor that sold the mount for 18,700 Bronze; that ended with the event in 2024.

The wiki has the item at level 17 with Apprentice Riding since patch 9.0.1; it binds when picked up. The linked guide covers many rare mounts; its Warbringer section has the rule, the five waypoints and a map of each.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
