Sold as Reins of the Ashhide Mushan Beast by Speaker Gulan, the Emissary of Ordos on the east coast of the Timeless Isle, for 500 Bloody Coins. A Bloody Coin is paid for each killing blow dealt to a player while the buff of the Fire-Watcher's Oath is on the character (bought from Speaker Gulan for 100 Timeless Coins; ten minutes, and it works wherever players can fight, battlegrounds included). His Censer of Eternal Agony (1,000 Timeless Coins) does the same on the Timeless Isle only and turns the character against both factions.

Before you go
- Fire-Watcher's Oath from Speaker Gulan: 100 Timeless Coins, which the isle's creatures, chests and rares drop. It is bought once and used again every ten minutes · about 0.25 h
- 500 Bloody Coins: 500 killing blows on other players with the Oath's buff up, one coin each. Only the blow that kills counts, and the buff has to be renewed every ten minutes. Battlegrounds are where players make them; since the Midnight pre-patch the Training Grounds against computer-run opponents are reported to pay coins as well · about 7.5 h
In all: about 7.8 h of play, starting from nothing.

- Ride the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
The journal's and the tooltip's 'Cost: 500' is 500 Bloody Coins: Wowhead's sold-by list (read 2026) has Speaker Gulan (NPC 73307, Emissary of Ordos) alone at 500 of currency 789, and the wiki says the same. The coins are the whole of it, and the weak figure is how fast they come.
Speaker Gulan stands on the cliff above the coast at the top of the road past Huolon's haunt, by a fire among yaungol who are friendly to both factions (a 2016 Wowhead comment; warcraftmounts.com as a web search summed it up, the page itself not read). Wowhead's tooltip for him has 74.6, 44.4 and 75.0, 44.8; commenters give 75, 45 and wow.gg 74.6, 44.4.
Getting there (wiki, as given for the Thundering Onyx Cloud Serpent): fly east-south-east from the south-eastern tip of the Jade Forest over the sea, or use the one-use Curious Bronze Timepiece from the quest Journey to the Timeless Isle. wow.gg says below level 50 the Mists of Pandaria timeline has to be chosen with Chromie first. The way to him is marked as ridden because the wiki files the isle under no-fly zones, as the Thundering Onyx Cloud Serpent's notes have it; the notes for the vendors at the Celestial Court (the Heavenly Golden Cloud Serpent and the Copper-Maned Quilen) have it the other way, and it was not tested.
The rule, by the wiki and the comments: one coin for the killing blow on a player while transformed by the Fire-Watcher's Oath (item 102463) or the Censer of Eternal Agony (item 102467). The wiki's page still says 'a level 90 player', the wording of a 2013 hotfix, and what level the victim must be today was not established (a 2026 commenter says at least level 35).
A victim killed from close by gets Sacrificed to Ordos, ten minutes in which killing the same player again pays nothing; commenters from 2020 to 2026 say it is only applied within about 20 metres, so ranged kills avoid it, and that the Censer applies it every time. A coin does not drop when killer and victim are in the same party (a 2024 comment).
In Midnight, players report that Training Grounds, the battlegrounds against computer-run opponents added with the pre-patch, pay coins with the Oath up (2026 comments on the currency and on the reins). One 2026 player got none from several killing blows there and was told the buff has to be on and the blow one's own, and a 2025 comment reports a battleground with many killing blows and no coin, so it is not beyond doubt.
The arranged way that players have described since 2016 takes two players, one killing the other's character again and again at a graveyard (in 2026: a ranged character with the Oath and a second character of level 35 or more, at a graveyard on mainland Pandaria). It is recorded here as what players do, not as the route, since nothing in the mechanics asks for an arrangement.
Whether Bloody Coins are shared across the Warband was not established; the comments all gather them on one character. Achievements mark 10, 100, 500, 1,000 and 2,000 coins.
wow.gg's page (updated 2026) calls the item the Pledge of the Fire-Watcher; the wiki and Wowhead have Fire-Watcher's Oath. The reins ask for level 32 and Apprentice Riding and bind when picked up (wiki); added in patch 5.4.0.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
