How to get it

Made by a tailor with Draenor Tailoring (skill 1 is enough) from Pattern: Creeping Carpet, which the tailoring pattern vendors in Ashran sell for 5 Secrets of Draenor Tailoring: Steven Cochrane in Stormshield (Alliance) and Petir Starocean in Warspear (Horde). Materials: 100 Hexweave Cloth and 20 Sorcerous Air. The Secrets and the cloth both come from the tailor's own daily cooldowns and bind when made, so it takes days: one Secret a day, and 8 or more cloth a day from 20 Sumptuous Fur and 10 Gorgrond Flytrap.

Before you go

  • A character with Tailoring, and Draenor Tailoring learned from the scroll of that name, which the same vendor sells for 100 gold; it also teaches the two daily recipes used below · about 0.3 h
  • 5 Secrets of Draenor Tailoring for the pattern: the recipe Secrets of Draenor Tailoring, one a day, 5 Sumptuous Fur each · about 0.3 h over 5 days
  • 100 Hexweave Cloth, which binds when made: the recipe Hexweave Cloth, once a day, turns 20 Sumptuous Fur and 10 Gorgrond Flytrap into 8 cloth 'plus additional based on Tailoring skill', so up to 13 days and 260 fur and 130 flytraps at skill 1. A Tailoring Emporium in the garrison shortens it with work orders (20 Sumptuous Fur for 5 cloth, four hours each, by the wiki). The fur is looted from Draenor's beasts, the flytraps picked in Gorgrond or grown in the garrison's Herb Garden · about 3 h over 13 days
  • 20 Sorcerous Air: the daily Hexweave Cloth craft sometimes gives one, and the garrison's Primal Spirit traders (Ashley Zerep in Lunarfall, 'Appraiser' Sazsel Stickyfingers in Frostwall) sell it for 15 Primal Spirits each · about 1 h

In all: about 4.6 h of play, spread over 13 days, 100 gold, starting from nothing.

Getting there

Steven Cochrane, tailoring patterns, Stormshield
Stormshield · 51, 37
/way Stormshield 51 37
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 1 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Ashran*
  2. Fly the rest of the way
Petir Starocean, tailoring patterns, Warspear
Warspear · 59, 42.8
/way Warspear 59 42.8
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 0.9 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Ashran*
  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

Two visits to the vendor: the first for the scroll, the second, five days later, for the pattern. The coordinates are the wiki's; Wowhead's tooltips have Steven Cochrane between 50.2, 36.2 and 51.0, 38.0 and Petir Starocean at 58.4-59.0, 42.0-42.8. The same two things are sold in a garrison Tailoring Emporium (Christopher Macdonald in Lunarfall by Wowhead's tooltip; Warra the Weaver in Frostwall by wow.gg), for whoever has that building.

The journal says only 'Profession: Tailoring'. The pattern, the cloth, the Secrets and the mount item all bind when picked up, and the mount item asks for Draenor Tailoring (1) and Apprentice Riding to learn, so the tailor who makes it is the one who learns it; after that it is in the account's collection. warcraftmounts.com and wow.gg say a character needs Tailoring (1) to ride it; Wowhead's tooltip for the mount spell shows no such line, and it was not checked in the game. It is a ground mount.

How long the cloth takes is the weak figure. Wowhead's tooltip gives 8 a day at the least; a 2017 comment says 20 a day at the old skill of 700, and whether a full Draenor Tailoring bar gives that today was not established.

The sources disagree on the work orders:

  • the wiki's table: 20 Sumptuous Fur for 5 Hexweave Cloth
  • wow.gg (2026): 5 fur for 1 cloth, and 6-12 cloth a day
  • a 2023 Wowhead comment, which calls the whole thing five days with an Emporium: 2,000 fur and 1,000 flytraps for the 100 cloth

The wiki allows 21 orders at once in a level 3 building and says a follower with the Tailoring trait doubles what is collected. Sumptuous Fur, Gorgrond Flytrap and Sorcerous Air are not bound and can be had from other players; that is not counted here.

Wowhead's guide (updated 2022) covers the mount in a few lines that agree with what is given here: Draenor skill 1, the pattern for 5 Secrets from the Emporium or the Ashran vendors, 100 Hexweave Cloth and 20 Sorcerous Air.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
