How to get it

Rare find in the Invader's Forgotten Treasure, the bag paid once a week for a Gold rating (1,000 points) in a Garrison Invasion. To call an invasion, buy a Scouting Missive from the garrison quartermaster, do its quest out in Draenor and hand it in; the quartermaster then offers the invasion, which is fought inside the garrison.

Chance 2.11% once a week, so about 47 tries on average — Wowhead: 826 mounts in 39,200 opened Invader's Forgotten Treasures (read 2026-10-10; pooled since 2014)

Time there about 15 min a visit

Before you go

  • Draenor garrison founded and raised to tier 3 (the last upgrade costs 2,000 Garrison Resources and 5,000 gold) · about 4 h
  • For each attempt, one Scouting Missive (200 Garrison Resources from the quartermaster) and its quest: a few minutes of kills at the place the missive names · about 0.25 h

In all: about 4.3 h of play, 5,000 gold, starting from nothing.

Getting there

Sergeant Crowler, Lunarfall garrison
Shadowmoon Valley · 29.6, 16
/way Shadowmoon Valley 29.6 16
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 2.4 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Ashran*
  2. Fly the rest of the way
Sergeant Grimjaw, Frostwall garrison
Frostfire Ridge · 47.9, 65.9
/way Frostfire Ridge 47.9 65.9
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 3.5 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Ashran*
  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

About 47 Gold bags are expected at that rate, one a week on each character. The bag can hold any of four mounts (in the same 39,200 bags: Garn Steelmaw 1,604, Smoky Direwolf 1,055, Giant Coldsnout 871, this one 826, so 11.1% for one of the four), and a 2015 comment reports two mounts from one bag. The bags are once a week per character, so every character with a tier 3 garrison is another roll.

A Platinum rating (1,300 points) adds a second weekly bag, the Routed Invader's Crate of Spoils, which the wiki also lists as a source of this mount; its loot count was not read, so the figure here is the Gold bag alone. The 1,000 and 1,300 point marks for Gold and Platinum are from a 2018 comment.

How an invasion comes: the wiki says enough kills of one of Draenor's factions trigger one and that Scouting Missives are the dependable way. The 2018 Wowhead comment walks through the missive route, and comments of 2021-2022 recommend the Shattrath Harbor and Heart of Shattrath missives (Shadow Council invasion) as the ones that score best since the level squish.

That a tier 3 garrison is needed is a 2022 Wowhead comment (below it the quartermaster does not offer the invasion); the wiki does not say. The same comment warns not to hand in the invasion quest before the bags have landed in the inventory, or the week's reward is lost. Gold Victory, the weekly quest that carries the bag, needs level 40 (Wowhead).

The coordinates are the quartermasters' spots (Wowhead tooltips: Sergeant Crowler 38.3, 32.2 in Lunarfall, Sergeant Grimjaw 44.0, 48.5 in Frostwall) worked out onto the zone maps from the game's map tables. The time on the spot is an estimate: a 7-minute timer and two more phases (the 2018 comment, which puts the whole errand at about 30 minutes).

The wiki names six garrison bosses as further sources, each called with an item an invasion may leave behind:

  • Annihilon
  • Commander Dro'gan
  • Gaur
  • Lady Fleshsear
  • Mage Lord Gogg'nathog
  • Teluur

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
