How to get it

Rare find in the Invader's Forgotten Treasure, the bag paid once a week for a Gold rating (1,000 points) in a Garrison Invasion. To call an invasion, buy a Scouting Missive from the garrison quartermaster, do its quest out in Draenor and hand it in; the quartermaster then offers the invasion, which is fought inside the garrison.

Chance 2.22% once a week, so about 45 tries on average — Wowhead: 871 mounts in 39,200 opened Invader's Forgotten Treasures (the bag's contents list, read 2026-10-10; pooled since 2014)

Before you go

  • Draenor garrison founded and raised to tier 3 (the last upgrade costs 2,000 Garrison Resources and 5,000 gold) · about 4 h
  • For each attempt, one Scouting Missive (200 Garrison Resources from the quartermaster) and its quest: a few minutes of kills at the place the missive names · about 0.25 h

In all: about 4.3 h of play, 5,000 gold, starting from nothing.

Notes and sources

About 45 Gold bags are expected at the chance given above, one a week on each character.

The bag can hold any of four mounts, 11.1% for one of the four. In the same 39,200 bags:

  • Garn Steelmaw: 1,604
  • Smoky Direwolf: 1,055
  • this one: 871
  • Shadowhide Pearltusk: 826

Wowhead's tooltip for the mount item itself carries no drop chance; the figure is from the bag's page.

A Platinum rating (1,300 points) adds a second weekly bag, the Routed Invader's Crate of Spoils, which the wiki and Wowhead's guide also list as a source of this mount; its loot count was not read, so the figure here is the Gold bag alone. The wiki names six garrison bosses as further sources (Annihilon, Commander Dro'gan, Gaur, Lady Fleshsear, Mage Lord Gogg'nathog, Teluur), each called with an item an invasion may leave behind.

Score marks (Wowhead's guide): 300 Bronze, 600 Silver, 1,000 Gold, 1,300 Platinum. Points come from kills, saved townsfolk, killed spies, buildings and defenders kept standing, and the final boss. A rating also pays the lower bags not yet earned that week.

How an invasion comes: the wiki and Wowhead's guide say enough kills of one of Draenor's factions (in the Apexis daily areas) trigger one. Scouting Missives, which start such a quest on demand, are the dependable way; they need level 40 (wiki) and are not in Wowhead's guide, which was written in 2014-15 and last updated in 2018. wow.gg's guide (updated 2026) says invasions start by themselves at tier 3 and that missives only speed them up, which does not match the wiki's account of kills.

The place given above, the missive route and the two requirements are the same as for the Shadowhide Pearltusk, which has the same source; they were checked against the wiki (missive price, tier 3 cost, once a week per rating) and the two guides. The coordinates are the quartermasters' spots worked out onto the zone maps for that mount.

Up to three players can fight an invasion together, and a helper who completes it is paid Bronze to Gold as well (Wowhead's guide). The time on the spot is an estimate: Wowhead's guide gives a hold-out of about 8 minutes between an opening assault and a final boss; wow.gg says 3-5 minutes at high level.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
