How to get it

Dropped every time by Gorok, a rare elite boar in Frostfire Ridge on Draenor. He appears at one of five spots, 2 to 8 hours after his body last vanished, and everyone who takes part in the kill gets the mount, up to 40 players at once.

Time there about 10 min a visit

Guide Wowhead: Through the Years: A Guide to Notable Open-World Rare Mounts

Before you go

  • Gorok being up. If he is at none of the five spots he was killed not long ago, or the zone had stood empty: he comes back 2 to 8 hours after his body vanished, at any of the five, and the timer starts again from nothing whenever Frostfire Ridge has had no player in it for 15 minutes · about 3 h

In all: about 3 h of play, starting from nothing.

Getting there

Gorok, Frostfire Ridge (5 spots: 51.8, 50.6 in the Cracking Plains; 64.8, 52.0 east of there; 58.0, 18.4 north-east of Colossal's Fall; 22.8, 66.4 south-east of Wor'gol; 63.4, 79.4 south of Grom'gar)
Frostfire Ridge · 51.8, 50.6
/way Frostfire Ridge 51.8 50.6
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 3.6 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Ashran*
  2. Fly the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 3.5 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Ashran*
  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

The drop from Gorok is counted as certain: Wowhead's recorded loot has the mount in 3,722 of his 3,723 loots, its tooltip says 99.97%, and the wiki and Wowhead's guide call it a 100% drop.

The five spots are those of Wowhead's guide, and the wiki lists the same. Wowhead's tooltip pins for the creature (NPC 50992) cluster on them:

  • 22.4-23.2, 65.4-66.0
  • 51.2-51.6, 50.4-50.6
  • 58.0-58.6, 18.4-19.6
  • 63.4-63.6, 79.6-81.0
  • 64.4-64.6, 52.0-52.6

Two comments give the eastern spot as 64.8, 63.0, presumably a slip for the 64.8, 53.0 of a third. The place given above is the one in the middle; the time on the spot counts a round of all five.

He moves a few yards around the spot (2024 comment), and only one Gorok is up on a realm at a time. Unlike Shadowmoon Valley, Frostfire Ridge unloads when it stands empty for 15 minutes, which removes him if he is up and restarts the timer, so the zone has to stay occupied for the 2 to 8 hours to run; waiting in the zone keeps it loaded (Wowhead's guide).

Sources disagree on the timer:

  • Wowhead's guide and wow.gg's newer guide (2026): 2 to 8 hours
  • a much-repeated 2015 comment: 5 to 16 hours, called out of date by one of 2024
  • wow.gg's older guide (2025): 15 minutes to 1 hour, without a source

wow.gg's older guide also says only one member of a group gets the mount; a 2014 developer's statement quoted in the top Wowhead comment, Wowhead's guide and a 2022 comment (a party of two, both got it) say everyone does. Class Trial characters get no loot from him (comments of 2020).

No lockout is mentioned anywhere, and the mount is learned once, so it does not matter. A 2021 comment found the Draenor rares standing unclaimed with Chromie Time on (presumably another copy of the zone). The NPC Time addon shows how long a creature has been alive.

He was level 93 elite when new and is level 40 on Wowhead now; for a levelling character his health follows the character's level (comments of 2021: 13,000 to 16,000 at level 20). The item needs level 17 to learn and binds when picked up.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
