Look it up on WowheadHow to get it
Dropped every time by Silthide, a rare elite riverbeast in the waters of Talador on Draenor. He appears at one of five spots, 2 to 8 hours after his body last vanished, and everyone who takes part in the kill gets the mount.

Guide Wowhead: Through the Years: A Guide to Notable Open-World Rare Mounts
Before you go
- Silthide being up. If he is not at any of the five spots, stay in Talador: when the zone has stood empty of players for 15 minutes it unloads and his timer starts afresh, so a character left waiting there usually meets him some 3 to 6 hours after the zone woke, 8 at the outside · about 4 h
In all: about 4 h of play, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Talador 62.4 46.2 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Ashran*
- Fly the rest of the way
- Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Ashran*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Wowhead's recorded loot has the mount in 2,252 of 2,252 loots of Silthide and its tooltip says 100%; the wiki says it 'has a 100% chance to drop' and drops 'for all group members'.
His five spots, the clusters of Wowhead's map pins for him:
- 62.4-63.0, 45.2-47.0
- 62.0-62.4, 32.4-33.2
- 67.2-67.4, 58.8-60.6
- 79.4-80.4, 55.4-56.0
- 55.0, 81.2-81.6
The list players pass around is 62, 32; 62, 45; 67, 59; 80, 55; 54, 83. wow.gg gives 61.8, 32.4; 61.8, 45.4; 67.8, 59.4; 79.6, 54.8; 54.8, 81.2.
The place given above is the middle spot, the one most pins and recent sightings fall on (62, 47 in 2024; 63, 46 in 2023). Recent sightings also name 61, 32 (2024) and 80, 56 and the easternmost spot (2024, 2025). The time on the spot is one round of the five; the hours of waiting are counted in the requirements.
He does not stand still: he swims about the pool or stretch of river he appears in (comments of 2014 to 2024, one of which has him going up the river as far as Tuurem). Do not mistake him for the ordinary riverbeasts of the same waters, which addons also flag (2015 comment).
Sources disagree on the timer:
- Wowhead's guide to open-world rare mounts: 2-8 hours from the moment the body despawns, for all six such rares of Draenor (as given for the Mottled Meadowstomper); a 2024 comment on Silthide's page quotes it and calls the older figures out of date
- comments of 2014 and 2015: 5-16 and 20-26 hours
- wow.gg's guide (updated 2026): still 12-28 hours
The recent reports fit Wowhead's guide: 3h24 after the shard started (2026), 3h40 (2025), 5h38 (2025), 6h45 (2024). wow.gg's guide is not linked because of its timer.
The reset when the zone stands empty is carried over from the Mottled Meadowstomper and was not checked again. Only one Silthide is up on a realm at a time; the NPC Time addon shows how long a creature has been alive (as noted for the Mottled Meadowstomper). No daily lockout is mentioned anywhere, and the mount is learned once.
He is level 40 on Wowhead now (196,280 health). The item binds when picked up and asks for level 17 (wiki).
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
